ARCHITECTURAL BOARD OF REVIEW MARCH 21, 1990
PAGE 2
to maintain the character of the building. The larger addition will
be also be one story, however it will be 28 feet high in order to be
in proportion with the rest of the building and will have a 34 foot
high entrance arch in the same st;=le as the entrances on the west.
The materials will match the existing: white split face masonry units,
solar bronze glass with duronotic bronze aluminium frames; and the area
inside the arches will be ground face masonryo The existing sign will
be relocated to the addition. The will be using a 2 foot, 8 inch re-
veal where the addition meets the existing building and a 4 inch high
reveal along the top of the addition to reflect the cornice on the
building. On the north side, because sight has been limited by the
addition, they will be extending the curb out 10 feet into the parking
lot, and adding ladscaping along the front. There will also be a
planting area on the south. Mr. Zergott advised that the laucothoe
shown in the northern landscape plan does poorly in this area and sug-
gested that they use a dwarf taxus such as wardeye or possibly annuals.
In the southern landscape plan he suggested that the spirea gold flame
be changed to either a lime mound or a gold mound spirea because the
gold flame variety grows higher than their other plants. He has no
problem with the rest of the plants. B. Zergott moved to approve the
May Company expansion plans as presented taking into account the changes
in the landscaping which would be to eliminate the laucothoe and changing
that to either taxus or a mounded annual area and to change the gold
flame spirea to a shorter variety, either lime or gold mound, seconded
by T. Gallagher, and unanimously approved.
VI. ADJOURNMENT:
The meeting was adjourned at 6:10 p.m.
B. Zergott, Act
B. Oring, C
k of Commissions
