TFI-t
.?
administered to R. Hayden, son of the owner of Barlo Plaza, and Mrs. Flicker,
Mrs. Wiersma, and Mrs. Harrington, all residents of Barton Road. It was
clarified that the request was for a second ground sign, not a pole sign as
stated in the agenda. Mr. Hayden explained that they are asking for 2 ground
signs instead of one pole sign and one ground sign which would be allowed. The
height of the sign would be 6 foot, 8 inches which is lower than original
ground sign, and the location does conform. Mr. Bugala would like to make
sure that they cannot install a pole sign without a variance. Building
Commissioner Conway stated that he would like it a condition of the motion,
that no pole sign could be installed without a variance. Neighbors have no
problem with the sign, but are concerned about a fence that ha.s not been
installed. This is not up to this Board, and it was pointed out that the
building is not completed as yet. Mr. Hayden stated that the fence i s on the
property, but has not been installed. R. Gomersall moved to grant the request
to Barlo Plaza, 30582 to 30600.Lorain Road to grant the variance for a second
ground sign on the property with the condition that no pole si.gn will ever be
placed an this property, seconded by T. Restifo, and tmanimously approved.
Variance granted.
7. Auto Accents 24052 Lorain Road
Request for variance (1123.12). Request variance to add temporary ba.nner to
existing pole sign. Violation of Ord. 87-93, Section 1163.06(e)(5).
Chairman Bugala called all interested garties before the Board. The oa.th was
administered to Mr. Yousef, who explained that he opened a new store in North
Olmsted-a year ago, but because of his location his sign is not visible from
Lorain Road. He advised that Cellular One is across Lorain Road, and
frequentTy his advertising brings in business to them, because they cannot
find his store. He presented several pictures showing the lack of visibility
of his sign. He would like to put up a professionally produced 2.5 foot by 4
foot banner on the pole sign for 90 days, and believes that would give him
enough exposure so that customers will lnow that he exists. Mr. Bugala stated
that this should be for no more than 90 days. T. Restifo moved to grant Auto
Accents at 24052 Lorain Road a variance to add a temporary banner to the
existing pole sign for a 90 day period starting December lOth, seconded by J.
Helon, and l.manimously approved.
Since Mr. Gomersall cannot be present at the next meeting on February 6, 1991,
he suggested that the meeting be deferred until February 13th.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:25 p.m.
r? /Ls
ssions
4
