ROLL CAI,L : <br />Chairman Gorris ca.lled the meeting to order at 8:05 p.m. <br />Present: R. Bowen, T. Morgan, A. Skoulis, J. Thomas, and B. Gorris. <br />Absent: L. Orlowski. <br />Also Present: Assistant Law Director Dubelko, Building Commissioner Conway, <br />City Engineer Deichmann, and Clerk of Commissions Oring. <br />II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES: <br />In the minutes of June 11, 1991, tmder Item 1 Section IV., Mr. Skoulis <br />pointed out that in the motion there was no indication of a second or a vote, <br />This will be added to the minutes. J. Thomas moved to approve the remainder <br />of the minutes of June 11, 1991 as submitted, seconded by A. Skoulis, and <br />unanimously approved. <br />III. BUILDING DEPAR'a'IIINT REQUESTS : <br />1) Stylin' Concepts, 29919 Lorain Road. <br />Proposal to construct two additions and exterior renovation to existing <br />building. <br />Heard by Architectural Board of Review June 19, 1991. <br />Mr. Case, owner, presented revised plans, and explained that he did no welding <br />on the site and most of the items that he sold were attached with screws or <br />bolts. He showed Mr. Thomas where the lighted red plexiglass strip was to be <br />located. Mr. Thomas advised that traditionally the Commission has rejected <br />canopy plans with lights to avoid the carnival atmosphere. Mr. Case has no <br />problem with eliminating the strip. The Architectural Board had required that <br />the fence le pai.nted white. The members believe that this would be extremely <br />hard to maintain and would be a target for vandalism. Mr. Morgan suggested <br />that it could be-left natural. Mr. Case stated that originally he had planned <br />a cedar board on board fence which would have been left natural. Mr. <br />Kazmarcek, designer, advised that the sign has been relocated and complies to <br />the new codes. Building Commissioner Conway agreed. The. Police Department <br />report stated "I would suggest that the plans require adequate space for semi <br />delivery equipment to enter business property without having to back into <br />a drive off Lorain Road, if not included in plans. No other safety problems <br />that I can determine." Mra Case stated that he had delivery by tractor trailer <br />approximately every three weeks and these were small boxes which could be <br />unloaded within 15 minutes. Building Commissioner Conway stated that a <br />building this size did not require unloading zones. The members could not <br />foresee any problems. The landscaping plan had been approved by Mr. Zergott of <br />the Architectural Review Board. Mrs. Benedict, a neighbor to the rear, was <br />advised by Mr. Kazmarcek that there would only be one security light in the <br />back and it would be directed down and that the rear area would be left <br />natural and the existing fence would not be replaced.
