BUILDING DEPAR'IlMIINT REQUESTS :
1) Brooklor Center, 26075 Lorain Road.
Proposal to construct building adjacent to the existing Dr. Erwin Jay Building.
Withdrawn from Plann;ng Commission meeting of Ma.rch 26, 1991.
The developer requested the proposal be delayed tmtil later in the evening
since his architect was not present.
2) Smythe, Cramer Real Estate, 28253 Lorain Road.
Exterior renovation to building.
Mr. Brink, Smythe Cramer, presented plans to install an alumintun mansard along
the front and sides of the building, either replace or re-clad the existing
columns, and install 2 additional columns on the sides of the building (scheme
"B" on the plans). No additional signage will be added. Since this property
appears to be two separate lots, and possibly split zoned, the members asked
City Engineer Deichmarm to verify the zoning and configuration of the property.
There are 58 parking spaces, but only 43 are required. Members suggested that
some of these spaces could be landbanked in order to enlarge the front
landscaped areaa Mr. Brink would like more landscaping and agreed to talk with
the owner but was concerned that if the two empty units were rented there might
not be enough spaces. Mrs. Hill, a neighbor, had no real complaints about the
business, but would like more landscaping and better maintenance on the
McKenzie Road lot. Mr. Brink advised that since they have moved in a new
manager has been hired who will do a better job. T. Morgan moved to forward the
proposal for the exterior renovation of Smythe Cramer at 28253 Lorain Road to
the Architectural Board of Review as well as to the Safety Department for their
review, and ask that the lessee discuss with his landlord the possibility of
removing some of the parking spaces, particularly those bordering Lorain Road
and see what additional landscaping might be developed for that property, and
also the owner's or manager's comments relative to that side yard and its
maintenance, seconded by J. Thomas, and tmanimously approved.
1
