ROLL CALL: <br />Chairman Gorris called the meeting to order at 7:40 p.m. <br />Present: Bowen, Gorris, Morgan, Skoulis, and Thomas. <br />Absent: Hughes and Orlowski. <br />Also Present: Mayor Boyle, Finance Director Burns, Assistant Law Director <br />Dubelko, City Engineer Deichmann, Building Comnissioner Conway, <br />and Clerk of Commissions Oring. <br />II. REVIEW ANID CORRECTION OF MINUTES: <br />T. Morgan advised that a letter had been received from Safety Director Gundy <br />which stated: "In reviewing. minutes of the July 9, 1991 Platuzing Commission <br />meeting Under Section VII-New Business, I noted that the new awners for the <br />proposed game room to be located at 27749 stated that they have received <br />necessary permits to operate the game room. The Safety Department has not <br />received application for licenses from the new owners. These licenses are <br />necessary before the game room can open." Mr. Morgan moved to approve the <br />minutes of July 9, 1991 with the inclusion of the above letter, seconded by J. <br />Thomas, and tmanimously approved. (Letter attached to signed minutes). <br />II. BUILDING DEPARTMIIVT REQiTESTS: <br />Great Northern Dodge (Boaters' World), 26075 Lorain Road. <br />Proposal to construct building (existi.ng building will be demolished). <br />Heard by Architectural Board of Review July 17, 1991. <br />Mr. Shartman, owner of Great Northern Dodge, advised that there was no problem <br />with using the split face block as required by the Architectural Review Board. <br />Building Commissioner Conway advised tha.t 6 parking spaces have been <br />removed on the revised site plan. It was explained to Mr. Skoulis that they <br />have added a 9 foot strip of landscaping where these spaces had been located. <br />Mr. Skoulis is concerned that the planting area will be over one of the <br />existing drains on the parking lot. City Engineer Deichmarm stated that this <br />would be reviewed when the detailed engineering plan is received. Mr. <br />Lawrence, a representative a Boaters' World, was present and explained tha.t <br />this is basically a retail store, no boats come onto the property and no boats <br />are sold on the premises. He presented photographs showing the inside of the <br />store and the items that are sold. Nothing is displayed in the pa.rking lot, <br />and there are no mail order deliveries from this locationa Deliveries to the <br />store are made by trucks smaller than tractor trailers. J. Thoma.s inoved to <br />approve and refer to the BZD Committee of Council the Great Northern Dodge <br />(Boaters' World) at 26075 Lorain Road, the proposal to construct a building <br />including all the suggestions and changes agreed to by the Planrvng Commission <br />and the Architectural Review Board at their meeting on July 17th, seconded by <br />T. Morgan, and unanimously approved. <br />IV. NEW DEVELOPMIINTS : <br />No items. <br />1
