Under the new code, no <br />logos are allowed on canopies; however, he pointed out that their competitors <br />across the street in both of these locations, have much larger signs and these <br />proposed signs are consistent with others in the area. Chairman Gomersall pointed <br />out that at a previous meeting, the B.P. ProCare had requested a pole sign on <br />Brookpark Road, and when the Board suggested that they install signs on the <br />building instead, they did not believe it would be consistent with other <br />buildings. Mr. Self explained that some facilities do not fall under the criteria <br />and in some areas they are reducing the height of pole signs. Mr. Restifo <br />questioned why these signs were needed when everyone lmows its a B.P. station. He <br />maintained that now all stations would want signs on their canopies. After some <br />discussion, it was decided that most canopies did have signs on them. Mr. Self <br />responded that these signs and the pole sign are the only ones allowed. Mr. <br />Gomersall advised him that all pole signs will be eliminated by January 8, 1998. <br />Mr. Self was aware of that and stated that there would be no problem changing the <br />pole signs to ground signs, in fact he might suggest that this be done <br />immediately. R. Gomersall moved to grant the requests for B.P. Oil Company at <br />23425 Lorain Road and at 25295_Lorain Road for 22 square foot variance for total <br />sign area to install logos on pump canopies at each location, seconded by J. <br />Maloney, and unanimously approved. Variances granted. Again Mr. Self stated for <br />the record that any non-conforming signs at any of these stations will be removed <br />immediately after he is informed that they are there. <br />James D. Boehmer, 28570 North Park Drive. <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request 402 square foot variance for garage area <br />to construct addition to existing attached garage. Violation of Ord. 90-125, <br />Section 1135.02(c). <br />Chairman Gomersall called all interested parties before the Board. The oath was <br />administered to James and Jeff Baker, contractors. Mr. Gomersall stated that the <br />Board's main concern here would 1e that the addition might be used for a repair <br />garage. The contractors explained that Mr. Boehmer, who is out of town, intends <br />to store two of his older vehicles in the addition. There is no intention to <br />repaix vehicles. The members had no problem with the request. J. Maloney moved to <br />approve the request of James D. Boehmer, 28570 North Park Drive, for a 402 square <br />foot variance for garage area to construct an addition to the existing attached <br />garage, seconded by T. Restifo, and imanimously approved. <br />Grace Fellowshi Church, 30450 Lorain Road. <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request location variance for bulletin board, 40 <br />foot variance from side lot line and 18.5 foot variance from street line. <br />Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section 1163.08(a). <br />Chairman Gomersall called all interested parties before the Board. The oath was <br />administered to the Reverend Mangan and Mr. Woost, contractor. The members had no <br />problem with the requesto T. Restifo moved to grant the requests of Grace <br />Fellowship Church, 30450 Lorain Road, for a location variance for the bulletin <br />board, a 40 foot variance from side lot line and an 18.5 foot variance from the <br />street line for an electric sign, seconded by J. Maloney, and unanimously <br />approved. Variances granted. <br />Sunn side To ota 27000 Lorain Road. <br />Request for variance 1123.12 . Request variance to install new pole sign <br />(prohibited). Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section 1163.22. (Also note location of <br />sign does not conform to Section 1162.12 if regulations for ground and pylon <br />signs were used a 5 foot variance from side lot line and also a variance for <br />2
