• v
. .9
will be replaced. Building Commissioner Conway stated that the Building
Department has determined that if a variance is granted for one insert of a
sign, then the other tenarlts could change their portion without coming back to
the Board until 1998. They are not going to bring panel inserts back to the
Board once it has been determined that a pole sign can stay. Any variance
granted is assumed to be in effect for the entire sign until 1998a W. Purper
moved to grant the request of Amore Bridal and Tux, 25190 Lorain Road, for a
variance to install an insert into existing prohibited pole sign and a 9 square
foot variance for total sign area allowed, seconded by J. Maloney, and
unanimously approved. Variances granted.
2, Baskin Robbins, 26400 Lorain Road.
Request for variance (1123.12). Request variance to have second wall sign;
request 91.7 square fobt variance for sign area for a business unit; request
variance 106.7 square foot variance for sign area for frontage of building and
request 1 foot variance for encroachment of wall sign into minimtun of 3.0 foot
setback from parting wall and also from end of building. Violations of Ord. 90-
125, Sections 1163.12(a); 1163.11(c) and (a); and 1163.04(a).
Proposal zias withdrawn because only 3 mer.ibers were present.
3. Donald J. Basch, 6530 McKenzie Road.
Request for variance (1123.12). Request 40 foot rear yard variance to construct
an addition with attached garage. Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section 1135.08(a).
Also request special permi-t to add to non-conformi.ng dwelling (rear setback).
Special permit required Ord. 90- 125, Section 1165.02.
Chairman Gomersall called all interested parties before the Board. The oath was
aclministered to Mr. Basch, Nlre Hovanec, contractor, and Mr. Kuack, a neighbor.
It was clarified that they -would be removing the old garage and rebuilding it so
that it will be attached tc) the addition. Building Commissioner Conway advised
that, with these new pl-ans, they would need a 41 foot variance. The variance
request was explained to Mz'. Kuack who stated that he had no objection to this
addition, but he is concerried since the City is getting so crowded. He objected
that the notice was sent so the neighbors could make a decision. He was advised
that the neighbors were not expected to make a decision on the vaxiance, only
give their opinions. W. Purper moved to grant the request of Donald J. Baseh,
6530 McKenzie Road for a 41 foot rear ya.rd variance to construct an addition
with attached garage,. and a special permit to add to a non conforming dwelling
(rear setback,) with the understanding that a fire wall and fire door will be
included in the addition, seconded by J.
