CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED
BOARD OF BUILDING CODE APPEALS
MINUTES-JUNE 24, 1993
Prior to the meeting Building Comnissioner Conway advised Vice Chairman Kazak
that hearing number 1, Moe A.bed Rabbo, would have to be continued to the next
meeting since Law Director Gareau had advised that because Mr. Kazak would
have to abstain, there would not be a quorum for a vote.
I. ROLL CALL:
Vice Chairman Kazak called the meeting to order at 7:43 p.m.
Present: W. Piar, D. Spoerke, and J. Kazak.
Absent: R. Burk, and B. Schulz.
Also Present: Building Commissioner Conway and Substitute Clerk of Commissions
Wingenfeld.
II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES:
D. Spoerke moved to approve the minutes of May 27, 1993, seconded by W. Piar,
and unanimously approved.
III. COMMUNICATIONS:
No Items.
N. HEARINGS:
1) Moe Abed Rabbo, 6270 Surrey Drive.
Request. 8 foot variance for height of satellite dish antenna (already
installed). Violation of Ord. 87-85, Section 1367.07. Hearing also required
because of objections received from ad.jacent residents as prescribed under Ord.
87-85, Section 1367.02.
Continued from meeting of Ma.y 27, 1993 to consider different location.
This proposal must be continued until the next meeting.
2) View Point Development (Shore West Construction),313, 329, 283,. and 364 Vista
Circle.
Request variance for lack of 3 foot clearance in front of panel.
Violation of National Electric Code, Section 110-16.
Vice Chairman Kazak administered the oath to L. Tennant, Shore West
Construction, M. Narowitz and T. Laidley, representing the electrical
contractor. Mr. Tennant explained that this problem occurred only on the "B"
units of the triplex buildings because the electrical panel boxes were not
installed as close to the wall as they should have been. There will be a two
foot clearance in front of the boxes, and they need 3 foot. The washing
machines were set 2 feet away from the boxes. It was clarified that there is a
pan under the washer which has a drain in it so in the event that a washer
overflows, water will not drain into the unit below. These pans have been
grounded as required by the electrical inspector. If the washer is moved there
will be 4 to 5 foot clearance and when a unit is sold the owners are advised
that the washer has to be removed before any work can be done on the box. The
electricians suggested that a sticker could be placed on the boxes. Mr. Kazak
preferred that a permanent metal or plastic plate stating that "the washer must
be moved out of the pan before servicing the electrical ganel" should be placed
1
