Mongello, architect, G. McKee, property manager, and Mr. Amos, representing
National City explained the proposal to install a kiosk in the parking lot in
front of the bank and plant landscaping throughout the center. The landscaping
will be started next week. Mr. Zergott requested that all the plantings be placed
inside bed areas rather than.in a lawn, he would prefer to have groupings of trees
and and plants in mulched areas with the lawn area in between. Mr. McKee explained
that the trees in front are to be placed in wolmanized boxes since they are over
the retention system, and agreed to Mr. Zergott's request. Mr. Mongello explained
that these plans are.the ones that were presented to Planning Commission and there
are a few changes specifically, they will be relocating the landscaping at the
entrances so that it will not be damaged by tractor trailers. It was clarified
that the shrubs throughout the island are taxus, and two types of juniper. Mr.
Zergott asked that they replace the purple sand cherries around the kiosk with
some kind of evergreen such as taxus brown eye to keep some green area in the
winter. Mr. McKee explained that they would be putting some pines adjacent to
Brookpark in order to block the rear of the shopping center. There were no color
samples of the kiosk materials. These are prefabricated units and the plans
indicated black metal panels with a sign canopy on top. Mr. Sohn noted that this
is quite high and was concerned about the black. It was clarified that the letters
and frame of the sign are to be an NBC green on a white background.
