CITY OF NORTH OLMSTID <br />PLANNING COMIffSSION <br />MINUTES--APRIL 27, 1993 <br />7:30 P.M. <br />I. ROLL CALL: <br />Vice Chairman Orlowski ealled the meeting to order at 7:50 p.m. <br />Present: A. Skoulis, R. Tallon, J. Thomas, and L. Orlowski. <br />Absent: B. Gorris and K. 0'Rourke. <br />Present: Assistant Law Director Dubelko, City Engineer Deichmann, Building <br />Commissioner Conway and Clerk of Commissions Oring. <br />II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES: <br />In reference to the minutes of April 13, 1993 pertaining to Metro Lexus, Vice <br />Chairman Orlowski requested that the statement "Mr. Stoyanov at Mr. Orlowski's <br />insistance agreed to move the handicapped parking closer to the front entrance." <br />be added as an addendun to the next minutes. J. Thomas moved to approve the <br />minutes of April 13, 1993 as corrected, seconded by A. Skoulis, and tmanimously <br />approved. <br />IIIo BUILDING DEPARTMENT REQUESTS: <br />1) Ground Round Restaurant, 24250 Lorain Road. <br />Proposal for exterior renovation to restaurant. <br />Heard by Architectural Review Board April 21, 1993e <br />Mr. Chris Raleigh, contractor, represented the Ground Roundo Since he was not <br />aware that Mr. Sohn of the Architectural Review Board had disapproved the second <br />color that they had presented, Mr. Thomas explained that the A.R.B. preferred <br />more of a beige or tan color and suggested that they provide a range of several <br />samples so that Mr. Sohn could make a choiee. Mr. Dubelko advised that the <br />Planning Commission could grant a conditional approval subject to the A.R.B.'s <br />final acceptance of an exterior color. A monument sign had been submitted without <br />dimensions but with the notation that the size would conform to code. This sign <br />will be located where the existing pole sign is now, and will be landseaped. Mr. <br />Thomas stated that both the color and the landscaping must be. approved by the <br />Architectural Board. Building Commissioner Conway advised that the A.R.B. had <br />seen the sign, and required landscaping, but did ask to see the landscaping plan. <br />Mr. Thomas suggested that the landscape plan and color samples could be presented <br />at the same time Mr. Raleigh presented the color renderings that had been <br />submitted to the A.R.B. A letter agreeing to the recommendations of that board <br />had been sent with the color sample (see attached). The parking lot lighting <br />shown on the plan is existing and no new lighting is planned. J. Thomas moved to <br />grant a conditional approval to the Ground Round restaurant for their exterior <br />renovation and that this approval be subject to the review by the appropriate <br />members of the Architectural Review Board for exterior color and landscaping <br />around the ground sign, and including all the revisions and suggestions made by• <br />this board as well as those made by the Architectural Review Board and that the <br />letter agreeing to the A.R.B.'s recommendation must be attached to these minutes, <br />seconded by R. Ta11on, and unani.mously approved. <br />1
