CITY OF NORTH OLMSTID BOARD OF ZOIVING APPEALS MINUTES-MARQi 3, 1993 Cha.irman Gomersall called the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m. Present: J. Maloney, W. Purper, and R. Gomersall Mr. Koberna arrived at 8:00 p.m. Absent: B. Grace Also Present: Law Director Gareau, Building Commissioner Conway, and Clerk of Commissions Oring. Chairman Gomersall ad.vised those present that there were anly 3 mPmmbers present and -;? it would take 3 affirmative votes.to approve a request. If anyone wanted to withdraw until there is a fiill board, he should do so at this time. Each case is judged on the physical situation peculiax to itself, in no way is a judgement rendered considered to be a general policy judgement affecti.ng, prpperty or like situations elsewhere. Building Commissioner Conway made a correction to the minutes of February 3, 1992 iten 9, page 6, 3rd line frm the top,of the page, should read .... 24 by 56 foot, garage wli.ich includes a 624 square foot work shop. Delete the words behind it. R. Gomersall moved that the sentence that presently reads "this proposal that has one attached, 24 by 56 foot garage with a 624 square foot work shop behind it, should be corrected to read "This proposal has one attached, 24 by 56 foot, garage which includes a 634 square foot work shop, seconded by J. Maloney, and unanimously approved. W. Purper moved to approve the minutes of the February 3, 1993 meeting as amended, seconded by R. Gomersall,. and imanimously approved. _ Crossroad Olds, Inc. (Oldsmobile of North Olmsted),.27871-81 Lorain Road. Request for variance (1123.12). Request variance to keep prohibited existing pole sign. Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section 1163,22(a). Continued fron meeting of February 3, 1993. Chairman Gomersall called all interested parties before the board. The oath was administered to R. Erel, sign contractor, who explained tha.t the sign was changed to Crossroads Olds and then was subsequently changed to Oldsmobile of North Olmsted. He submitted a revised colored drawing of this change. The members believed that this change had been made, but Mr. Erel did not believe it ha.d. He was advised that this sign could only be approved until January 1, 1998 at which time all pole signs are to be removed. W. Purper moved to grant a variance for Crossroads Oldsmobile,.Inc. (Oldsmobile of North Olmsted), 27871-81 Lorain Road to keep a prohibited existing pole sign with the stipulation that the pole sign has to be removed by January 1, 1998, seconded by J. Maloney, and unanimously appr.oved. Variance granted. Tom Stergo, 31410 Lorain Road. Request for variance (1123.12). Request variance to reconstruct residence in a Limited Industrial Area (residences are prohibited). Request 56 foot front setback variance;- request 17 foot side yard variance; request 145 foot variance for miniminn lot width. Violations of Ord. ?90-125, Sections 1145.03; 1145.07; and 1145.06. Also request special permit to expand, alter, and restore a nonconforming building. Special permission required Ord. 90-125, Section 1165.02. 1
