The oath was
administered to Ms. Waite, who explained that having a sign in her front yard on
Clague would be her best form of advertising. Building Commissioner Conway
advised that under the code she would be allowed a 2 squa.re foot sign on the
house, but it could only have her name an it there could be no business name in a
residential district. She has no walk in business, she only takes orders and
delivers the products to her customers. Mr. Purper stated that this would set a
precedenta The members agreed that business signs did not belong in residential
districts. Ms. Waite stated that she has lost business since she ha.d to take the
sign down. J. Ma,loney moved to grant Gigi Waite, 4120 Clague Road, the request
for a variance to install an 18 square foot ground sign which is prohibited in a
residential neighborhood, seconded by T. Violation or Ord. 90-125, Section 1135o02(d)(3).
Chairman Gomersall called all interested parties before the board. The oath was
administered to Mr. Herman. Mr. Gomersall noted that the garage would be larger
than his house. Mr. Herman explained that the ba,ck 12 to 14 foot section of the
garage would be used as a utility room and work shop. This is phase 1 of a long
term project, he intends to put a recreation room on the rear and after that a
second floor on the house. Mr. Koberna noted that the garage would be 34 feet
deep and would extend beyond the house.: Mr. Herman explained that the garage
lined up with a porch that he is going to build and explained how he was going to
divide the 22 car ga.rage. The members are still concerned about the size. Mr.
Herman explained that he had no plans to do any work out of his garage, but he
needed the space to store his boat and there will be no living area behind the
garage. The members discussed the plans. Since there is a stairway down to the
basement, Building Commissioner Conway explained that certain codes must be
followed to protect from gas vapors; he will also need fire walls between the
utility room and garage as well as the wall adjacent to the house. Now that they
lmow what the future plans are, the members agreed this would be an improvement
and noted that the lot was deep. W. Purper moved to grant the request of Donald
T.
