_ - . . .
? Star Bank 25900 Couutry Club Blvd.
Request for variance (1123.12). Request variance to use prolu`bited pole sign; request variance to
have second free standing sign; and request variance for location of pole sign which is in the
prolubited triaugular area. Note: ifvariance granted pole sign must be removed by January l, 1998.
It was decided to continue this request until the neat meeting. R. Gomersall moved to continue the
Star Bavk request at 25900 Country Club Blvd. until the next meeting which will be in February. The
motion was seconded by T. Koberna, and unauiinously approved. Request continued.
Chairinan Gomersall announced that, because the board would not be meeting in January, he would
like to hold elections at this time.
J. Maloney moved to nominate Mr. Robert Gomersall for chairman for the year of 1995. The motion
was seconded by W. Purper. The nominations were closed. Mr. Gomersall was elected chairmau
unanimously.
R. Gomersall moved to nominate Mr. Maloney as Vice Chairmau. the motion was seconded by Mr.
Purper. The.nominations were closed. Mr. Gomersall was elected Vice Chau7nau unanimously.
Buildiug Cominissioner Conway stated that before he came to North Olmsted, a former
Commissioner had ruled that swing sets and back yard play equipment should not be subject to the
Zouing Codes. Now that these items have become more elaborate he would like the Board's opuuou
if tlus determination should be changed. The members agreed that policy of exempting children's
play equipment from the regulations of the Zoning Codes should be continued as it has been done iu
the past.
Also, Building Commissioner Conway asked i? when a variance had been granted previously for a
roof over a patio, and at a later date, the home owner asked to enclose the patio, should that request
be forwarded to the board for a variance or would the enclosure be covered under the previous
variance that was granted. Since a variance expires after a year has passed, and if this request comes
iu after that expiratiou date, should it then be brought before the Board. Law Director Gareau did
not believe it should be necessa 'ry to bring such a request back. Since the variance had taken away
the greeu area that the code is tryiug .to preserve, he could not see that it made any difference if
walls were installed. It was determined that this type of request would not have to come back.
Mr. Gomersall reminded the members that the next meeting would be February lst.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:20 p.m.
3a t/??
R.
