The oath was
administered to Mr. Secrist, Mr. Rebelli, representing University Hospital, and
Mr. Zuik, sign contractor, who explained that these were individual letters and
would not require a variance if the wall space did not have to be counted. Mr.
Gomersall noted that this is a good looking sign. W. Purper moved to grant the
request of Rainbow Specialty Center (University Hospital Health Care), 26700
Brookpark Ext. for a 1 foot, 3 inch hei.ght variance for sign and also a request
for a 25 foot variance for total sign area for a business unit, seconded by J.
Ma.loney, and unanimously approved. Also request 7 foot setback variance for
monument sign and variance to have sign in 35 foot prohibited triangular axea.
Violations of Ord. 90-125, Section 1163.12(b).
Chairman Gomersall called all interested parties before the Board. The oath was
administered to Mr. Orr, representing Bennet Dover Home Remodelers, who explained
that this is an existing dwelling with a garage, and there is not enough room to
add a conforming drive to the baek. He clarified that only automobiles and small
trucks will use the drive. He is attempting to save the landscaping in the front
and two trees in the back. Ali parking except the handicapped space is i.n the
back. Mr. Conway stated that this is basically an offiae use and he does not
believe the drive will be a problem. The plans have been revised to show a
portion of the 10 foot landscape buffer along about one half of the lot. The
members were concerned with the setback of the sign and suggested that it be
moved back. Mr. Orr had no problem with that and agreed.to move it back 10 feet
to conform to code which would also take it out of the 35 foot prohibited
triangular area. R. Gomersall moved to grant the variance to Bennet Dover Home
Remodelers, 29341 Lorain Road, to eliminate a 10 foot landscape buffer on the
west side of property, a 4 foot variance for width of drive at narrowest point.
Also to grant a special permit to a non-conforming building, seconded by J.
Ma,loney and unanimously approved. The oath was
administered to Mr. Miller, sign contractor, who explained that they have permits
for the 1 wall sign, a ground sign, and directional signs. They are now asking to
add the corporate logo on the building and a sign on the service department which
cannot be seen from the street. Mr. Conway verified that the height was about 8
foot, 6 inches. They will be removing some signage that was.approved previously.
2
