?:..?• . .._.,
agreed to withdraw the original request The members believed that the alternative was far
more acceptable. Mr. Gomersall questioned i? by granting the alternative, would it be
denying her into the original variance for a year. Mr. Conway did not believe that there was
any other alternative. Mr. Gomersall explained to the neighbors that even though they are
going over the garage since there was a rear yard variance previously, the board will have to
grant a second one to build above the garage. R. Gomersall moved to grant the request of
Mae Gaul, 3446 Tree Lane for a special permit to add to a non conforming dwelling. Special
permit to required by Ord. 90-125, Section 1165.02(b)(1) and to grant a 31 foot rear yard set
back variance to construct a second story addition over the garage. Violation of Ord. 90-125,
Section 1135.08(a). The motion was seconded by J. Maloney and unanimously approved.
Variance and special permit granted.
10. Drug Mart (Comer Stone Plaza), 24579 Lorain Road.
Request for variance (1123.12). Request 30 square foot variance for maximum allowed for a
ground sign; request 4 foot 6 inch height variance (5 foot allowed); request variance to have
individual store signage on grou.nd sign; and request variance for second ground sign on
properiy (one permitted). Violation of Ord. 90-125, Sections 1163.12(b); 1163.12(b);
1163.12(h) and 1163.12(b). Note: existing pole sign will be removed.
Chairman. Gomersall called all interested parties before the board. The oath was admiuistered
to Mr. W. Romp who explained that there was one ground sign existing on Columbia Road.
Mr. Conway explained that he is modifyiug the existing pole sign to be more in conformauce
to the new code. Mr. Romp explained that the sign would be 8 feet high by 10 feet wide and
his sign contractor told him that the height conformed. Mr. Conway advised that this should
really be considered a monument sign, not a ground sign. Mr. Romp explained that sign would
be on a mounded landscaped area and they will be moving it further back from the sidewalk.
The members had no objection. W. Puxper moved to grant the request of Drug Mart (Corner
Stone Plaza), 24579 Lorain Road for a 30 square foot variance for maximum allowed for a
ground sign, to grant 1 foot, 6 inch height variance, and to grant the variance for a second
ground sign on the property (one permitted). Violation of Ord. 90-125, Sections 1163.12(b);
1163.12(b); 1163.12(h) and 1163.12(b). The motion was seconded by R. Gomersall, and
unanimously approved.
