? ?. <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />PLANNING CONIlVIISSION <br />MINUTES - FEBRUARY 14, 1995 <br />I. ROLL CALL: <br />Chaimi?n Tallon called the meeting to order at 7:40 p.m <br />Present: D. Cameron-Alston, R. Koeth, T. Manning, P. Miller, K O'Rourke, and R. Tallon. <br />Also Present: Assista.nt Law Director Dubelko, Building Commissioner Conway, Assistant <br />City Engineer McDermott, and Clerk of Commissions Oring . <br />II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES: <br />Mr. Miller corrected the minutes of January 24, 1994 on page 3, 171ines from the bottom, after <br />the words "any validity to the statement" change statement to argument and add "to the <br />arg;ument that the car wash generated about 20 customers an hour now, whereas the proposed <br />business would generate 20 customers per daX" R. Koeth moved to approve the minutes of <br />January 24, 1994 as amended, seconded by P. Miller, and u.nanimously approved. <br />III. BUII.,DING DEPARTMENT REQUESTS: <br />1) Saturn Dealership, 27000 Lorain Road. <br />Proposal to covert former Toyota Show Room for use by Saturn with a new building facade and <br />addition of planters. <br />Mr. Stoyanov, developer, presented the plans and explained that Sunnyside had a dealership in <br />Middleburg Heights, but because of the popularity of the Saturn, they believed another was <br />needed here: The former Toyota show room will be renovated to become a Satum dealership and <br />Toyota will move ne}rt door with the Mazda dealership. The building is being altered so that it will <br />conform to the design requirements of Saturn and will be covered in a new white stucco facade <br />arou.nd the show room with gray trim and two new gray canopies to define the entrances and to <br />provide shelter. A new planter will replace all of the existing parking in front of the show room and <br />will ineorporate a single car display. Additional landscaping will be added to the planters along <br />Lorain Road. He presented photographs of the existing properties and renderings of the proposed <br />renovations and pointed out that a new screen wall which will limit visibility of the Service <br />Department from Lorain Road. The site plans shows both properties and later on they will be <br />submitting renovation proposals for the Toyota/Mazda building. The concrete pads in the front <br />landscape bu.ffer will remain in front of the.Toyota building, but additional landscaping will be <br />planted. It was determined that the lift to displa.y the cars was still being used, and Mr. Stoyanov <br />will check to see if it is to remain. He clarified that the pods will d.isplay 2 cars each. He presented <br />a drawing of the proposed Toyota renovations, but explained that it has not been approved by <br />Toyota. Both buildings will be covered with. a white stucco. Mr. Tallon believed that the colors on <br />both buildings should match. Mr. Stoyanov explained that there will be a small addition on Toyota, <br />but not as shown on this plan, it will be smaller'. and will be on the west side instead of the east. <br />Building Commissioner Conway suggested that since the Commission has seen the colored <br />rendering, this building might go through as a minor change.
