l
Homeowners Association. The architectural review board had commended them on the landscaping plan
and only suggested that they replace the Washington Hawthorns with some other type of omamental
trees, and these have now been replaced with Red Jewel Crabapples. The lighting is now shown on 18
foot lugh pole, instead of 25 foot high poles, and will now have 175 watt metal halide bulbs on each pole
instead of 400 watt metal halide; there will be wall paks on the rear of the build.ing with zero tolerance at
the mound. He forgot the cut of the fixture, but will send it tomonow, and explained that it was the
anodized aluminum pole, with a shoe box design with zero cut off at the appropriate property lines. The
architectural review board had commended both the lighting plan and the building. In reference to the
buildiug, the smaller store that was identified as Office Supplies will now be Morris Grraphics. The
architectural review board had no problem with the signs on the building which are individually
illuminated letters with a Plexiglas face to match the colors on the center. The main color of the build.ing
will be the light gray; the rose color was the beam color and the dark gray was the crown mold. The
arclutectural review board believed that the rose was too pale and he has replaced that with a St. Croix
Sky wluch will blend with the burgundy trim which will be on the entrances, the stripe and the letters of
the signs. The review board also asked that grill work on the garden center match the white split face
block; and they also requested that there be one 8 inch block of the gray at the bottom of the windows on
the Levin Furniture store unit. Mr. Manuing noted that the review board had also wanted pilasters on the
wall behind the canopy where the windows will be removed. Mr. Gross explained that there would be
alternate gray and white pilasters on the wall, similar to the columns and clarified the mechanical units on
the roof would be painted black to match the roof; and that they would have to contact the councilman at
large to get the name of the representatives of the condominium to see about their extending the fence on
theu property to the condo fence to keep people from cutting through the between the two fences. There
will be no mounding on the west side, the slu-ubs and trees will be at ground level. The Safety forces had
no problem with the development, but the Fire Department had noted that hydrants would be required.
Couucilman Lind advised that he has the telephone number of the condominium's management company.
A. Mauniug moved that the McCormick Place Shopping Center, property located west of Plaza West
Shopping Center, 23130-23150 Lorain Road, proposal to construct shopping center, which was heard by
architectural review board July 19, 1995, be sent on the B.Z.A. with the recommendations that it be
accepted with the following items that have beeu discussed: the fencing on the north and east side; the
lighting on 18 feet high poles with the 175 Watt lights; the replacement of the hawthorn trees with the
Red Jewel Crabapples; also the 8 inch block ou the base of the Levin Furniture windows which would
elimuiate the floor to ceiling glass; the metal grillage on the garden center will match the split face block
color; the color changes to the burgundy and St. Croix Sky; the landscaping proposal as outlined and
submitted; the new plans with the eliiniuation of the west driveway; the dumpster enclosure in the same
inaterial as the building with metal gates with board on board fencing stained to match the building; and
to recommend that the developer contact the head of the 'Clague Towers Condominium Association to
decide on the continuing the fence to avoid having a cut through. The motion was seconded by T.
Brennau, and unanimously approved.
N. NEW DEVELOPMENTS AND SUBDIVISIONS:
No items.
V. COMMUNICATIONS:
No items.
5
