,
r?,
CTTY OF NORTH OLMSTED
ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW BOARD
MIlNUTES - FEBRUARY 22, 1995
CONFERENCE ROOM - 5:30 P.M.
1. ROLL CALL:
Chairman Zergott called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m
Present: S. Krieger, M. Yager, and B. Zergott
Absent: T. Gallagher
Also present: Clerk of Commissions Oring.
II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINIJTES:
The minutes of December 21, 1994 were never approved, so they will be sent to the members
again in order for them to re-read.
M. Yager moved to accept the minutes of January 18, 1995, seconded by S. Krieger, and
unaniinously approved.
III. SIGNS:
To be heard with building plans.
N. OLD BUSINESS:
Mr. Yager advised that he did receive the plans for World of Sleep and had sent a fax approving
them.
V. NEW BUSINESS:
1) Auto Accents, 25021 Lorain Road
Proposal to renovate building including the addition of a large alumiuum accent band to support
signage on the north and west elevation of building.
Heard by Planving Coinmission January 24, 1995.
Variance for signage from Board of Zoning Appeals is required.
Mr. Schlauch, sign contractor, presented the plans and pictures of the existing facility. They will
be removing the existing canopy and the signage on the front of the bu.ilding in order to add an
ahuninum fascia along the north and west sides of the bu.ilding. This fascia will have bumped out
areas over the garage doors, windows, and the man door all with various product signs on them
and the signs "Auto Accents" and "Cellular One" will be on flat section of the west wall. The
lower portion of the building will be covered with Dryvit later on when the weather permits.
There will be a single neon tube along the red band of the fascia. The signs will be vinyl copy, but
not illuminated. They will not be changing the existing free standing sign. Mr. Zergott wondered
how they would be handling the fascia if they were not allowed all the signage shown. Mr.
Schlauch was not sure since he believed that clustering all the signs in one spot would ruin the
effect of the bump-outs on the fascia band. It was clarified that only 1 sign would be allowed, but
because it was on a corner lot they might receive a variance for a second sign. Mr. Yager believed
that the entire fascia was a sign since there are-signs in various places along it. He also noted that
