?..
will be Svec, arctic white, split face block and the accent will be Svec greystone; windows will have
anodized alwninum frames; and the overhead doors will be white. He clarified that the accent was to be
blue, but they had been unable to find blue split face block. Mr. Yager advised that there are companies
that handle blue, but the gray and white would be acceptable. Mr. Beardsworth has no specific drawing
of the 4 by 10 foot Ziebart Tidy Car logo which will be on the front, but explained it would be a larger
version of what is on the present building. Mr. Conway explained that if he had nothing to present, the
sign would have to reviewed by the board. Mr. Beardsworth presented a business card showing the
logo. Mr. Zergott preferred to see a rendering of it. There will be no roof top units and the dwnpster
enclosure will be the same materials as the building. The front parking will be for customer parking; cars
that are to be worked on will be in the bays or parked in the back. Mrs. I{rieger noted that they showed
lugh pressure sodium lights on the plans, and the yellow light would discolor the white building. Mr.
Beardsworth advised that the lights would not be on after 5:30 or 6:00 p.m, Mr. Yager stated that there
would be very little cost difference between the high pressure sodium and the metal halide. Because the
building is very plain and cannot be changed, Mr. Yager believed that adclitional landscaping was
necessary improve its appearance. Mr. Zergott stated that he had wanted something more elaborate,
but the revised plan is basically what had been shown originally. He suggested that some evergreen
plantings be added around the sign with the annuals that are shown; and the globe arbonritae should be
replaced with taxus sebian or something similar. He advised that he would make some notes on a copy
of the plan so their architect could rework it and he will approve it after it is presented. During the
framing of the motion, it was noted that the raised concrete island at the back corner of the building was
to protect it. Mr. Zergott believed that this should be a landscaped bed. He also stated that because the
building was so simple, he intended to add more plantings, such as ornamental trees, etc. M. Yager
moved to accept the Ziebart Tidy Car proposal, 27935 Loraiu Road, as shown on the revised plans
presented this eveuing with the following comments: that a revised landscape plan be presented to Mr.
Zergott for his review and should include his comments about the landscaping; also the island area on
the back of the building should be made iuto a planter bed; that the lighting be altered from high
pressure sodium to metal halide; and the loading zone should be relocated. The motion was seconded by
S. Krieger, and unanimously approved. Mr. Conway has some concern about the configuration of the
driveway because it might not allow enough stacking area, so he will ask the city traffic engineer to
review the plans.
1) Scott Minvick, 30993 Lorain Rd. (Heard at tlus point).
Proposal to build storage/office building and have outdoor storage of hardscaping (patio stones,
bricks, and other materials used in landscaping other thau plant materials).
Referred by Plaunuig Cotnmission December 12, 1995.
Mr. Zergott advised that he was going to abstain from making recommendations on this proposal
because of a conflict of interest. Mr. Muuiick explained that this 300 foot wide by 600 foot deep lot is
ou the north side of Lorain about three quarters of a mile west of Barton Road and abuts North and
South Court wluch are residential streets. There is a home on the property aud he is planning to
construct a pole barn with vinyl siding and shutters for the business. Basically they sell brick wallcways,
pre-cast retauuug wall products, top soil, mulch, and various natural stone products. He presented a
plan showing the locatiou of the eaisting trees and explained that some trees would be removed; but he
would like to keep as many as possible for a natural buffer. Customers come to the business and choose
theu product which is usually shipped from the manufacture to the site. There will be some heavy
2
