f .
equipment on the property including two fork lifts and a trailer which will be stored belund a 6 foot
fence. He plans on installing a brick driveway and using old fashioned lamp posts. In response to Mr.
Yager's questions, he explained that all the materials would be located behind the storage building and
shielded by the fence from the residents, but he would not be carrying every type of stone available.
Since the lot is so deep, he has kept everytlung behind the 75 foot front setback. Regarding the odor of
the mulch, he advised that there would be 100 feet before the residential property which is a natural
barrier and he will be adding some pines. He intends to live in the house that is on the property, and
temporarily use it as the office. Mr. Yager liked the character of the house which is in keeping with the
lights that he is plauning. He suggested the storage building be placed adjacent to the house and kept
witlun same character as the house instead of having two distinct types of building ou one site. He did
not believe it would cost that much more to build something in character since it would be a matter of
adding overhangs, avvnings and using compatible siding. He also suggested having the storage building
attached to the house which would only require a fire wall. He thought that this could look like a milk
shed. Mr. Minnick advised that he originally planued to split offthe house and a portion of the property
from the business, however he agreed that tlus might be preferable, if he is perinitted to do it. He really
had not had time to look into doing it differently. Mr. Yager believed that it might even be less
expensive since it would be no different then adding an attached garage. There might be a problem with
the elevations, but he could put in some steps. He suggested that he take advantage of the products
that he is selling aud use the character of the house and return to the board with a plan. Mr. Zergott
asked how he could conceal the products, if he moved t]te building next to the house. Mr. Yager
thought that the product could be behind the fence. Mr. Niinuick is agreeable to doing this, but wants to
be in business in the spring. Building Commissioner Conway advised that he would have 12 inonths
fiom when he takes out the permit to complete the work, but if he an approved plan and he kuew that it
was going to be completed, it would be possible for him to open before everything was completed.
IVIr. Miiuiick agreed to returu in January. He presented pictures of the site and a rendering of the sigu.
The members had no problem with the sigu, and Mr. Conway advised it might be higher than the code
allows, but he will check into that. N1r. Miunick asked if there would be a problem if he built a bigger
building. Mr. Yager stated that if he could contain all the heavy equipment in the building it might be
better. S. Krieger moved to continue the Scott Mimiick proposal, 30993 Lorain Rd. to build
storage/office building and have outdoor storage of hardscape (patio stones, bricks, and other
inaterials used in landscaping other than plant materials) until the next meeting, January 17, 1996. The
inotion was seconded by M. Yager. Roll call on motion: Krieger and Yager, yes. Mr. Zergott,
abstained. 1Vlotiou carried.
VI.
