<br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />BOARD OF ZONINGAPPEALS <br />MINUTES - MARCH 29, 1995 <br />Because of a special Council meeting, Chairmau Gomersall called the meeting to order in the <br />committee room at 7:40 p.m. <br />Present: M. Boyle, T. Koberna, J. Maloney, and R. Gomersall. <br />Absent: W. Purper. <br />Also Present: Law Director Gareau, Building Commissioner Conway, and Clerk of Commissions <br />Oring. <br />J. Maloney moved to approve minutes of March 1, 1995, seconded by T. Koberna, and unanimously <br />approved. <br />Chairman Gomersall advised all present that each case would be judged on the physical situation <br />peculiar to itselt so that in no way is a judgment rendered considered to be a general policy judgment <br />affecting properties and like situations elsewhere. <br />Julian & Alice Taunton 3005 Clague Road <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request 16 foot front setback variance to construct roof over <br />remodeled front porch (permit for remodeling has been issued). Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section <br />1165.02(b)(1). Also request special permit to enlarge non-conforming dwelling. Special permit <br />required Ord. 90-125, section 1165.02(b)(1). <br />Chairmau Gomersall called all interested parties before the board. The oath was administered to Mr. <br />and Mrs. Taunton and Mr. Jones, contractor, who explained that the they have relocated the stoop <br />and now, there will be a problem with snow, so they need a roof to shield it. The members had no <br />problem with the request. J. Maloney moved to grant the request of Julian and Alice Taunton, 3005 <br />Clague Road, for a 16 foot front setback variance to construct roof over remodeled front porch <br />(permit for remodeling has been issued). Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section 1165.02(b)(1). Also to <br />grant the request special permit to enlarge non-conforming dwelling. Special permit required Ord. 90- <br />125, Section 1165.02(b)(1). The motion was seconded by T. Koberna, aud unanimously approved. <br />Variance and special permit granted. <br />2. John I{uox Church. 25200 Lorain Road. <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request variance for a pylon identification sign not permitted by <br />code. Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section 1163.08. Please note: Pylon sign will be in the right-of-way. <br />Heard by Architectural Review Board March 22, 1995. <br />Chairmau Gomersall called all interested parties before the board. The oath was ad.miuistered to Mr. <br />Serne, architect, and Mr. Nagy representing the church. The Architectural Review Board had no <br />problem with the sign as presented. Mr. Nagy showed a model and a colored rendering of the sign. <br />He explained that they purchased the adjacent property and have verbal approval from the State of <br />Ohio to use the proposed relooated SR 252 right of way for a driveway. The objective is to reduce <br />the potential of having to make illegal left hand turns into their existing driveway. They will be
