The oath was administered to Ms.
Russo, representing the business, who explained that they intended to use the bulletin board sign. Mr. ?.
Conway advised that the square footage requested included that sign. Mr. Purper believed that they _
needed the signs on that corner. W. Purper moved to grant the request to Rebecca's Floral and
Design, 27706 Lorain Road for a variance to have 2 additional wall signs and also to grant a 51
square foot variance for excess business unit signage. Violation of Ord. 90-125, Sections 1163.12(a)
and 1163.11(c). The motion was seconded by T. Koberna, and unanimously approved. Variances
granted.
Centurv Federal, 28255 Lorain Road.
Request for variance (1123.12). Request location variance for one directional sign, and variance to
have advertising on two directional signs. Violation of Ord. 90-125, Sections 1163.12 (E) and
1163.03(B). Continued from meeting of August 31, 1995.
Building Commissioner Conway explained that he had informed the representative of Century Federal
that he would be mailed a notice of the meeting and the clerk does not send them when a request is
continued, so he was never notified of the meeting. Mr. Conway explained that he did discuss this
with the traffic engineer, whose only concern was that they put some things on the lot internally and
correspondence has been sent addressing this issue. The members had received a copy of the traffic
engineer's memo. Under those circuinstances, Mr. Conway had no problem with a MAC sign, since it
basically controlled traffic, but he would object to putting a bank name on the signs because that
would be advertising. J. Maloney moved to grant the request to Century Federal, 28255 Lorain Road
for a location variance for one directional sign, and a variance to have advertising on two directional ?
signs. Violation of Ord. 90-125; Sections 1163.12(E) and 1163.03(B) with the stipulation that the
company abide by the traffic engineer's additional requirements regarding these signs on the property
and with the notation that these signs are strictly for the MAC directional signs. The motion was
seconded by R. Gomersall, and unanimously approved.
The members decided that the meeting would be changed back to Wednesdays since originally the
meeting had been changed to Thursdays only uutil October. The next meeting will be Wednesday,
November 1, 1995, and the meetings will be on Wednesdays until the members advise otherwise.
Mr. Maloney may not be able to attend on Wednesdays.
17ie meeting was adjourned at 9:15 p.m.
Gomersall,
B.
