Brennan, T. Herbster, R. Koeth, K. O'Rourke, and R. Tallon <br />Absent: D. Cameron Alston and A. Manuing. <br />Also Present: Assistant Law Director Dubelko, City Engineer Deiclvnann, Assistant Build.ing <br />Commissioner Rymarczyk, Assistant Clerk of Commissions Conush, and Clerk of Commissions Oring. <br />II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES: <br />R. Tallon moved to adopt the minutes of March 26, 1996, seconded by K. O'Rourke. Roll call on <br />motion: Tallon, O'Rourke, Brennan, and Herbster, yes. Mr. Koeth, abstained. Motion carried. <br />R. Tallon moved to adopt the minutes of Apri19, 1996, as presented, seconded by T. Brennan, and <br />unanimously approved. <br />III. BiALDING DEPARTMENT REQLTESTS: <br />1) The Soccer Zone, west end of Lorain Road. <br />Proposal to construct indoor soccer field in Limited Industrial District. <br />Heard by architectural review board Apri117, 1996. . <br />Heard by the board of zoning appeals April 17, 1996. <br />Mr. Schmidt, owner of the property, and Mr. Garrett, Soccer Zone, presented revised plans which <br />reflect the suggestions of the architectural review board and a colored rendering of the building. Mr. <br />Schmidt explained there will now be a 5 foot high landscaped mound in the 50 foot front setback and <br />there are two 25 foot high pine trees that will be relocated in order to save them. The mound will be <br />tapered off so as not to impair visibility and it will be gradual enough to mow. SamVles and a list of the <br />materials had been presented after the architectural review board meeting (Roof - white; gutters - <br />Hawarian Blue; upper sid.ing band - Light Stone; lower siding band - Dessert Sand; block color nu.mber <br />1- Charcoal; block color number 2- Riverbed Sand; Accent Block - Spectra Glaze to match Hawauan <br />Blue; down spouts - Light Sand; eave trim - Hawauan Blue; and storefront- doors - clear anodized). <br />Since there is parking on the side and the entrance is in the front, Mr. Tallon would like a sidewalk ? <br />along the side of the building. Mr. Schmidt thought it was on the plans, but agreed that there would be <br />enough room to install it and there will also be a sidewalk on Lorain Road as required by code. The _ <br />architectural review board recommended that the light poles be reduced to 25 feet high with 400 watt <br />metal halide bulbs. Mr. Ganett explained that the playing field would be an artificial turf with. foam <br />padding over the concrete floor and he explained the construction of the interior of the fields. He <br />advised Mr. Koeth that there is a net so that the ball cannot leave the playing field. Mr. Herbster was <br />concerned that there would be a problem with traffic congestion, since there is only one entrance. Mr. <br />Garrett stated that the way the games are scheduled they do not have traffic problems, and usually only <br />the family members attend the games, there are not a large number of spectators. The members <br />questioned if there were to be signs on I-480 (No sign elevations shown on plan). Mrs. Becker, <br />president of NOSO, stated that there was about 900 players in their program, and there are 250 players <br />in the travel program who must travel great distances to play during the indoor season. They also have <br />650 children in the in-house program who have no place to play in the winter. She believed that this
