Cameron Alston; T. Brennan, R. Koeth, A. Ma.nuing, K. O'Rourke, and R. Tallon.
Mr. Herbster arrived shortly after roll call.
II, REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES:
R Tallon moved to adopt the minutes of November 12, 1996 as written, seconded by K. O'Rourke.
Roll call on motion: Tallon, O'Rourke, Cameron Alston, T. Brennan, and A, Manning, yes. Mr. Koeth
abstained.
III. BUII,DING DEPARTMENT REQUESTS:
1) Econolodge (Camelot Inn), 22989 Lorain Road.
Proposal to refurbish exterior of existing building.
Heard by architectural review board November 20, 1996.
Mr. Petroski, architect, presented revised plans and a landscape plan. The members studied the plans
and discussed them with the architect. He explained that the plans were revised according to the
members suggestions at the last meeting. He has eliminated all illumiuation uuder the awnings, has
eliminated one awning over the stair tower and replaced it with a fascia which resembles the fascia that
was replaced from the front over the stairs which gives a certain degree of balance. The bright red has
been replaced with a dark burgundy and the white Dryvit has been replaced with a pewter gray; the
Dryvit enclosure on the balcony rail has been eliminated; the rail and doors will be painted gray; lights
have been added over the front stair; an 8 inch base from grade has been added where the Dryvit is
being installed; the east wall is to be painted gray to match the front; and a better dwnpster enclosure
is shown on the drawings. The architectural review board approved these concepts as presented. They
also required a landscape plan which he has presented this evening. The paint colors are shown on the
color rendering which Mr. Petroski will leave with the Building Commissioner until after all the
approvals. These colors are as follows: The awuing, Unitex - 1790 Winterberry; stucco: "Dryvit"
pewter Gray No. 10; paint, red Glidden T.0.09/200; paint, gray Glidden 30 BG 36/051. He showed a
color (M2-exterior) which was similar to the existing brick and a sample of the off- white metal siding.
The axchitectural review board had required that a landscape plan be submitted for approval prior to a
building permit being issued. Mr. Petroski did not see any need for more landscaping since there was
quite a bit on the site at present. He pointed out where the landscaping was located on the site plan.
R. Tallon moved to approve the proposal to refurbish exterior of existing building for Econolodge
(Camelot Inn), 22989 Lorain Road, this proposal will include all the recommendations of the
architectural review board and the building permit will not be issued until a landscape drawing is
approved by the architectural review board, with the inclusion that the metal halide lights should be
installed in the front area and in the center area. The colors are to be as shown on the colored
rendering which will be left in the Building Department. This approval will include all changes on the
updated awning. The motion was seconded by T. Brennan, and unanimously approved.
