Mr. (yallagher stated
there are alternatives to putting the logo on the sign and suggested using a door display. He
clarified that this board has been attempting to eliminate logo's in an effort to make the city look
more attractive. Mr. Short presented a colored rendering and explained they have modified the
logo slightly to use just black light. Mr. Yager believed, part of the sign style was a suggestion of
cost implications, and the word "Discount" is unnecessary. Mr. Liggett noted every one of the
photographs have a big picture of Murray in the window, which in his opinion was su?'icient in
establishing an identity. Mr. Short argued the property is going down an incline, and was unsure
that the window displays were visible from the street. W. Liggett believed it would be visible,
but would not pop out at first glance.
T. Liggett motioued to approve the sign with the modification that the Murray logo is removed
from the sign. If the logo is removed, Mr. Short would like to increase the square footage of the
sign to 75 square feet. The architectural review board was agreeable to this modification as loug
as it remains a mivimum of six inches from the top and bottom of the sign band. The motion was
seconded by T. Gallagher and unanimously approved.
3) Einstein Brothers' Bagels, 27045 Lorain
Request approval of logo on ground sign and awning.
Please note the wall sign and ground sign were discussed separately, meaning there are two
motions.
Mr. Kalina and Mr. Kriekis presented the proposal. The board discussed the building
sigu first and it was clarified that the turquoise would be removed and the awuing will be a solid
yellow color. Building Commissioner Conway noted that there is a skin underneath, wluch he
believed would prevent light from coming up from below. Mr. Zergott would like the logo
removed from the awning. In response to Mr. Yager's question, it was clarified there is a facade
wall on the roof.
