., <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS <br />MINiJTES - FEBRUARY 28, 1996 <br />Chairman Gomersall called the meeting to order at 7:45. <br />Present: T. Koberna, J. Maloney, and R. Gomersall, Mr. Purper arrived la.ter. <br />Absent: M. Boyle. _ <br />Also Present: Law Director Gareau, Building Commissioner Conway, and Clerk of Commissions <br />Oring. <br />Chairmau advised that each case would be judged on the physical situation peculiar to itsel? so that <br />in no way is a judgment rendered considered to be a general policy judgment affecting properties and <br />like situations elsewhere. He further stated that only 3 members were present, and it would take <br />three affumative votes to approve a request, so if any applicant wished to withdraw until the next <br />meeting, he should do so at this time. <br />Premier Bank (Riui/Rego), 4700 Great Northern Blvd. <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request 24 square foot variance for excess business unit signage to <br />advertise bank in supermarket. Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section 1163.12(a). <br />Continued from board of zoning appeals meeting on January 31, 1996. <br />Chairman Gomersall called all interested parties before the board. The oath was administered to Mr. <br />Rusitinsky, sign contractor, who presented a revised plan for an 8 by 3 foot sign, the original one had <br />been 16 by 6 feet. The members had no problem with the reduced request. T. Koberna moved to <br />grant the request of Premier Bank (Rini/Rego), 4700 Great Northern Blvd., for a 24 square foot <br />variance for excess business unit signage to advertise a bank in supermarket. Violation of Ord. 90- <br />125, Section 1163.12(a). The motion was seconded by R. Gomersall, and unanimously approved. <br />Variance granted. <br />1. Alexander's (formerly Nightfall), 30850 Lorain Rd. <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request variance to install new sign faces on existing non- <br />conformiug pole sign. Also request variance to leave existing pole sign in 35 foot triangular area. <br />Violation of Ord. 90-125, Sections 1163.26 and 1163.12. Note: ifpole sign were to be considered a <br />pylon sign, variances would be requ.ired for 6 foot, 6 inch and 3 foot, 6 inch setback from right of <br />ways; also pole sign must be removed by January 1, 1998. <br />Chairmau Gomersall called all interested parties before the board. The oath was admiuistered to Dr. <br />Patel, owner, who explained that he only intended to use the pole sign for a short time, and will <br />replace it with a ground sign which will be installed east of the existing entrance. Mr. Gomersall <br />cautioned him that all pole signs had to be removed by January 1, 1998. J. Maloney moved to grant <br />the request of Alexander's (formerly Nightfall), 30850 Lorain Rd. for a variance to install new sign <br />faces on existing non-conforming pole sign. Also, to grant a variance to leave existing pole sign in 35 <br />foot triangular area with the understand.ing that the pole sign must be removed by January 1, 1998. <br />Violation of Ord. 90-125, Sections 1163.26 and 1163.12. Note: if pole sign were to be considered a <br />pylon sign, variances would be required for 6 foot, 6 inch and 3 foot, 6 inch setback from right of <br />ways. The motion was seconded by R. Gomersall, and unanimously approved. Variance granted.
