. <br />f ? ? ' •. '.? <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS <br />1VIINUTES-MAY 8, 1996 <br />Chairman Gomersall called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m <br />Present: J. Maloney, W. Purper, and R. Gomersall. <br />Ms. Boyle arrived at 7:36 p.m. <br />Absent: T. Koberna <br />Also Present: Law Director Gareau, Assistant Building Commissioner Rymarczyk, Assistant Clerk of <br />Commissions Cornish, and Clerk of Commissions Oring. <br />W. Purper moved to accept the minutes of Apri117, 1996 as written, seconded by J. Maloney, and <br />unanimously approved. <br />Chairman Gomersall advised that each case would be judged on the physical situation peculiar to itselt <br />so that in no way is a judgment rendered considered to be a general policy judgment affecting <br />properties and like situations elsewhere. He explained that it would take three affumative votes to <br />approve a request and since only three members were present, all members would have to approve a <br />request. He advised that if anyone wished to delay his hearing, he should do so at this time, prior to his <br />request being called. <br />1. Crombie Law Firm,(Hyatt Legal Services) 4615 Great Northern Blvd. : <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request 12 square foot variance for total sign area to replace existing <br />wall sign and insert in pole sign. Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section 1163.11(b). Note: Non-conforming <br />signs must be removed by January 1, 1998. <br />Chairmau Gomersall called all interested parties before the board. The oath was administered to Mr. <br />Kelleher, sign contractor who eaplained that they were merely replacing the faces in the existing wall <br />sign and the insert in the pole sign. He stated that his customer is aware that the non-conforming signs <br />will have to be removed on January 1, 1998. Mr. Maloney noted that pole sign is not owned by <br />Crombie and advised that a letter would be needed from the owner of the sign. W. Purper moved to <br />grant the request of Crombie Law Firm, 6415 Great Northem Blvd. for a 12 square foot variance for <br />total sign area to replace existing wall sign and insert in pole sign subject to a letter of approval being <br />submitted from the sign owner. Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section 1163.11(b). Note: Non-conforming <br />signs must be removed by 7anuary 1, 1998. The motion was seconded by J. Maloney, and unanimously <br />approved. Variances granted. <br />2. Ethan Allen Home Interiors, 26125-27 Lorain Road. <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request variance to install pylon sign: request 37 square foot variance <br />for total sign area allowed for a business use (95.5 square foot variance granted 12-6-95); request 2 <br />foot, 5 inch variance for height of sign; and variance to install sign in 35 foot triangular area. Violarion <br />of Ord. 90-125, Section 1163.11A., and 1163.12B. <br />Chairman Gomersall called all interested parties before the board. The oath was aciinivistered to Mr. <br />Hixon, sign contractor, who explained that when they came for the variances for the wall sign, <br />someone forgot to include the pylon sign.
