The rear addition will match
the height of the existing body shop(lower point) and coordinate with whatever the adjacent surfaces
are and a dumpster locatiou is to be submitted with the appropriate city needs such as screening. He preseuted pictures of the shelter, but he did not have a
sample of the brick Mr. Zergott asked liow tlus pole ended up in a park. Mr. Bradford explained that
they are buildiug tluee iu North Ohnsted, one on the roof of Victoria Plaza, one on the roof of the
Corporate Center, and they ueed a facility iu tlus Clague Park area to fit in with the surrounding site.
Nonnally they build a pole about 150 to 160 feet, but because tlus is in a park in a residential area. Mr.
Zergott questioned how they can even get it in a park, Nir. Yager stated that tlus is engineering, a pole
is needed here because that is what the calculatiou say. Mr. Bradford explaiued although negotiations
with the city are uot fuialized, he is hopiug to get approval from the boards and commissions. Since
AT&T will be payiug a considerable amount of mouey up frout and a continuing lease payment, this site
was picked so that the inuncipality gets the benefit of the revenue. Iu response to the members
questious, Building Coiuinissioner Couway explaiued to the ineinbers that sewers are bing installed iu
the park,.and the baseUall diamonds have been toiv up but will be restored. Mr. Gallagher did not like
anytlung taking way fi•oin the park. N1r. Liggett stated that there is nothing in the area where they are
putting tlus in the park. There are
homes near this, aud tlie residents were iuvited to a meeting. Building Commissioner Conway suggested
that the board address the specifics of the building, the landscaping and fence, and since he is working
on some legislation for tlus, he can probably answer some of the questious. Mr. Gallagher does not like
the chain liuk fence. Mr. Bradford stated that it did not have to be chaiu like, and a landscape plan had
been presented to cover the fence and the shelter. N1r. Gallager is concerned about lightuing lutting the
fence. Mr. Conway stated that there is a way to screeu the pole so it looks like a piue tree or a palm tree
however the cost is treineudous. He. elaborated the cost is about $1,000 a foot and the issue was not
discussed at plauning comnission.-1VIr. Couway coutinued, there is no way to hide a 100 foot pole. The
Federal GoveiYUnent requu•es that the poles must be pei7nitted, however, the municipality can regulate
them. So there has to be some co-operation, but the location is up :to the Mayor and the Admivistration.
It is up to the board to inake the euclosure and fence blend iuto the green area. If the board wants to
make a suggestion to disguise the pole, they should, but he doubts that they could make it a
requireinent.
