Koberna, J. Maloney, P. Miller, W. Purper, and R. Gomersall <br />Also Present: Law Director Gareau Building Commissioner Conway and Assistant Clerk of <br />Commissions Cornish. <br />W. Purper moved to approve the minutes of March 5, 1997, seconded by P. Miller, and unanimously <br />approved. <br />Chairma.n Gomersall notified those present that the request of Elizabeth Kosen had been withdrawn <br />and would probably be heard next month. <br />Chairmau Gomersall advised that each case would be judged on the physical situation peculiar to <br />itselt so that in no way is a judgment rendered considered to be a general policy judgment affecting <br />properties and like situations elsewhere. He explained that it would take three affrmative votes to <br />approve a request and building permits for'all variances and special permits granted may be picked up <br />Monday at the Build.ing Department. • <br />Sgt. Pepperoni Pizza, 28877 Lorain Road <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request for sign variances. <br />This request was withdrawn by the owner of the business. <br />2. Med Center. 25757 Lorain Road <br />Request for variauce (1123.12). <br />Request for sign variances. <br />Chairmau Gomersall advised that this request has been postponed until next month. <br />3. John Friedrich, 27462 Edgepark Blvd. <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request a 39 square foot variance for area of shed which will exceed <br />the maximum 2% ofthe rear yard area that is permitted. Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section 1135.02 <br />(d-1). Continued from meeting of March 5, 1997 so applicant can submit a landscape plan. <br />Chairman Gomersall called all interested parties before the board. The oath was administered to Mr. <br />and Mrs. Friedrich and neighbors, Mr. Montemagno and Mr. Shumaker. Mr. Gomersall stated that the <br />main reason this was continued was to see what sort of landscaping was to be installed. Mr. Friedrich <br />presented a sketch that showed some existing trees and some bushes which were to be installed. Mr. <br />Koberna questioned what he was going to install since the board wanted him to hide the shed. Mr. <br />Friedrich explained that he was not going to hide the building, but he would put bushes in. Mr. <br />Gomersall stated that this was continued so he could bring in a plan showing the landscaping that was <br />intended to soften this huge build.ing. The sketch that he has shows that the bushes would be about 5 <br />feet away from the shed. Mr. Friedrich responded that it did not have to be five feet. Mr. Gomersall <br />stated that it look like he put bushes along the property line, but not over by the shed. He asked if that <br />was a ladder ha.nging from the shed. Mr. Friedrich stated that it was. He stated that, he could shorten <br />the building if he was not given the variance so that it conformed to code, but he saw the board grant <br />questionable variances at the last meeting. He stated that Mr. Gomersall had been at his house, and he <br />had told him what he was going to do. If there was going to be harassment, they could live like <br />Hatfields and McCoys or they could live like neighbors. Mr. Purper_ stated that it was his understanding
