Tiffy Lube/Sears Auto Center, 5000 Great Northern Boulevard Request for variance (1123.12). Request 61.4 square foot variance to have signs on awning. Please note: total sign area will be 207.2 square foot over total sign area allowed for all signs on building. Previous variance granted December 11, 1996 conditioned upon the removal of the Sears Auto Center Signs. NOTE: NON-CONFORMNG SIGNS MUST BE REMOVED BY JANUARY 1, 1998 PER ORDINANCE 90-125 SECTION 1163.26, I7NLESS AN EXEMPTION. IS GRANTED BY TBE BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS. No representative present. Request was tabled until August at the end of the meeting. 3. La Z Bov Furniture, 25450 Lorain Road Request for variance (1123.12). Request 1 foot 2 inch height variance for ground sign. Vice-Chairman Maloney called all interested parties before the board. The oath was administered to Mr. Stitz, architect, who explained that the build.ing was set back 75 feet and also had a large side yard on Root Road, but the entrance was on Lorain. They are not asking for a sign on the side. He presented a picture of the signs at an existing facility. Mr. Koberna was concemed that the ground sign might block visibility. Assistant Building Commissioner Rymarczyk advised that the location sign conformed to the ordinance. Mr. Stitz explained that there would be plantings around the ground sign. T. Koberna moved to grant the requests for La Z Boy Furniture, 25450 Lorain Road, for a 1 foot, 2 inch height variance for ground sign; a 2 foot height variance for wall sign; and an 82 square foot variance for total sign area for wall signs. Violation of Ord. 90-125, Sections 1163.12 and 1163.12(a) with the notation that this sign be exempted from Ord. 90-125, Section 1163.26 conceming the amortizing of non-conforming signs, seconded by W. Purper, and unanimously approved. Variances granted. 4. R& K. Busse, 6225 Winding Creek Lane Request for variance (1123.12). Request an 8 foot rear setback variance to construct covered porch. Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section 1135.08. Vice-Chairman Maloney called all interested parties before the board. The oath was administered to Mr. Busse who explained that they were going to put a floor over the existing patio and enclose it. The members had no problem with the request. W. Purper moved to grant the request of R& K. Busse, 6225 Winding Creek Lane for an 8 foot rear setback variance to construct. covered porch. Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section 1135.08.
