Jaines Lumber and they had advised that the builder, Heartland, would get the permit. He had reduced
the size because he had been told that the shed could uot be over 200 square feet. Mr. Gomersallnoted that it was still 39 square feet over the maximum 2% allowed. Mr. Montemagno, the next door
neighbor, stated that he had lived in North Olmsted for 27 years and they did not have to deal with
barns and detached garages. On behalf of his parents, he stated that they believe that this is an eyesore
and should be brought up to code. He thought that other things, such as bushes and trees, should be
planted for the cosmetics of the shed. Mr. Gomersall stated that, if he sawed off four feet from the
back he would be within code. He stated that, when he was on the property, he uoticed there were
about five sheds in the area. The neighbors stated that all of these were much smaller in both size and
height. Mr. Shoemaker, who lives on the other side of Mr. Montemagno, stated that the neighbors did
not like to welcome new neighbors like this, but the neighbors are conscientious about their properties
which are all open. There are some smaller sheds that are set back in corners or out of direct sight.
This is very large aud higli, and is an eyesore. He also stated that if there was a way of softening it, he
would accept that. Mr. Gomersall asked if he would be williug to soften this with some shrubs around
it. Mr. Friedrich agreed. Mr. Shoemaker was coucerned that if Mr. Frederick moved out, someone
might use this building as a repair shop since it is large enough to put a car inside. Mr. Friedrich uoted
that the height is uuder what is permitted by code. He stated that he would put some shrubs around it,
and he did not want the neighbors to feel bad about what he had, but he would not complain if they
had something he clid not like, like trailers and boats in the driveway. He clarified that he bought the
materials from James Lumber, who subcontracted the building to Heartland. Mr. Koberna stated that
tlus was not lus responsibility, it was up to Heartland to get the permit. He would like to table this, and
ask 1VIi. Friedrich to come back with a plan for shrubs, if that is agreeable to the neiglibors. Mr. Miller
asked what the use would be since it was so large. Mr. Friedrich explained that he had a riding lawn
mower, hand tools, lawn chairs and he had been a general contractor and had saved a lot of tools. Mr.
Miller asked if it needed to be as big and as high. Mr. Friedrich responded that it did not, but tlus was
the only place he had to store lus tools, he again stated that he would paint it, and plant shrubs. Mr.
Miller advised that he is a neighbor of this property, and he found this to be extremely large. He, too,
is concerned that another owner might use it for another use later on. Chainnan Gomersall believed
that as a member of the board, he should not be addressing this. Mr. Miller offered to move arouud to
the other side of the table. There is a building permit application, no permit was ever issued. Building
Cominissioner Conway assumed that this was taken out after the building was erected. Mr. Friedrich
agreed to come back with a sketch of soine shrubbery. Mr. Purper suggested that he meet with his
neighbors to see if it meets with their approval. Mrs. Friedxich stated that they have lived in North
Olmsted and Fairview 1'ark and had no problems. Mr. Gomersall stated that this area is wide open and
is like a park. He thought it would be a good idea to table this and bring it back next month. R.
Gomersall moved to table the request of Mr. John Friedrich, 27462 Edgepark Boulevard until the
April 2nd meeting. The inotion was seconded by was seconded by W. Purper.
