CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ARCHITECTURAL BOARD OF REVIEW <br />MTNUTES - NOVEMBER 19, 1986 <br />I. ROLL CALL: <br />Chairwoman Case called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. <br />Present: J. Britton, M. Case, S. Ebin, and D. Pattison <br />Also Present: Building Commissioner S. Spino,and Clerk of Commissions <br />B. Oring. <br />II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES: <br />S. Ebin moved to approve the minutes of October 22, 1986 as presented, <br />seconded by M. Case, and unanimously approved. <br />III. SIGNS: <br />No items. <br />IV. OLD BUSINESS: <br />No items. <br />V. NEW BUSINESS: <br />1) Romp's Dairy Queen Brazier, 24579 Lorain Rd. <br />Proposal to construct atrium on front and drive through facility on side of <br />existing building. (Variance granted for front set b ack by Board of <br />Zoning Appeals on November 1, 1967 and on October 1, 1986) Heard by <br />Planning Commission October 28, 1986. <br />Mark Kordy, contractor, explained that atrium will be installed on the <br />front of building and drive through window on the side, menu? board will <br />be at the rear of the building. At present they have an excess of 45 <br />parking spaces which are to be rearranged (possibly with a center lane in <br />rear parking lot). Mr. Britton stated that western most exit/entrance on <br />Lorain Road is highly congested, after some discussion, it was suggested <br />that perhaps a"no left turn" would be appropriate at this location. Mr. <br />Pattison suggested some type of curbed holding area so that cars in drive <br />through lane can be stacked, and also mentioned that a center drive in a <br />parking 1ot could be dangerous. Planning Commission has requested a <br />parking.lot layout and this board would also like to see it. It was <br />pointed out that a guard rail would be installed at the entry way to alert <br />pedestrians of the drive through aisle. In reference to the building, all <br />brick work will match the existing brick, aluminium trim on glass will be <br />bronze, glass in atrium will be clear arid reflective, top glass panels <br />might be tinted, the pole sign will remain but the building signs will be <br />removed, roof will remain as is; roof top units.are screened now and no <br />new units are to be installed, overhang on drive tlirough will be approxi- <br />mately 4 feet wide and 81-2 feet high (clearance sign must be installed), <br />raised island separating drive through lane from parking area may be <br />eliminated and separation indicated with striping or landscaping, and
