ti- - , CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED
ARCHI.TECTURAL BOARD OF REVTEW
MINUTES - MAY 21, 1986
I. ROLL CALL:
Chairwoman Case called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.
Present: J. Britton, MA Case, S. Ebin, and D. Pattison
Also Present: Building Commissioner S. Spino and Recording Secretary B. Oring.
II, REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES:
The Minutes of April 16, 1986 were deferred.
III. SIGNS:
1) Hoty Enterprises, Victory Plaza (Impact Sign Co.), 24353-71 Lorain Rd.
Ground signo
Mre Fiocca of Tmpact Signs explained that set back is "shown only 3' from
the sidewalk and that if sign is set back 7' as required, it would be in
the parking lot drive which would be hazardous. They would be willing
to set sign back 4' which would keep it in the landscaped area. Seven
foot set back is the ordinance and a variance from the Board of Zoning
Appeals would be required to reduce the set back. Board suggested that
site plan could be reversed so that one row of parking would be adjacent
to the landscaped area and sign could be placed in one parking space
with some landscaping around it. This change of site plan would have to
be reviewed by the Planning Commission, Board can approve sign at this
time, but not the location. Mrp Fiocca explained that sign will be
placed on a brick pedestal; background will be cream; cabinet and "Victory
Plaza" letters wi11 be blue; tennant signs will be cream and blue also
but probalily with different styles of lettering. Sign will be illumin-
ated with underground wiring. Mr. Pattison pointed out that directional
signs as shown on site plan should be reviewed since one is s.hown in the
right of way and the other is too close, Mr. Fiocca has no information
on the directional signs. S. Ebin moved to approve the design of the
proposed ground sign and since the proposed location does not conform to
the ordinance, we recommend that the northern portion of the total park-
ing 1ot be changed opposite hand with respect to.an east west center
line, the result would be parking against the landscaped area at the
street and the drive against the concrete walk just north of the build-
ing and the sign can be moved back 74 and introduced in one parking space
with a curbed landscaped area around it, seconded by D. Pattison, and
unanimously approved,
2) Magic Touch (Impact Sign Co,), 24532 Lorain Rd.
Pole sign insert for sign previously approved for Lorain Road Auto Body.
Mro Fiocca p.resented a color rendering of the internally lighted pole
sign inserte Colors are orange, yellow, and black on a white background.
Board has no problems with sign. D. Pattison moved to approve the sign
as submitted with the colors, yellow, orange, and black as indicated,
seconded by M. Case, and unanimously approved.
