?
CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED
ARCHTTECTURAL BOARD OF-REVIEW
MINUTES - APRIL 16, 1986
I. ROLL CALL:
Chairwoman Case called the meeting to order at 4:55 p.m.
Present: M. Case, J. Britton, S. Ebin, and D. Pattison
Also Present: Building Commissioner S. Spino and Recording Secretary
B. Oring.
II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES:
S. Ebin moved to approve the Minutes of March 19, 1986, seconded by M. Case,
and unanimously approved.
III. SIGNS:
1) George's Kitchen (Faith Sign Co.), 27350 Lorain Rd.
Signs (Building proposal heard December 18, 1985).
Sign on the b uilding will be neon letters applied to the stone wall
with a lexan cover over it; wire and transformer will not be visible.
They plan to change faces on existing pole sign to chocolate brown
letter on an ivory background; pole will be painted brown and not
lighted. Mr. Pattison does not like two different type letters on
one property. S. Ebin moved to approve the signs as submitted, secon-
ded by M. Case. Roll call on motion: Ebin, Case, and Britton, Yes.
Mr. Pattison, Nay. Mre Pattison explained that he did not like the
neon so low on.the building and does not like the combination of dif-
ferent type signs on one project and believes that a can type sign,
the same as the pole sign, should be repeated on the wall. The Board
agreed that this would be far better.
2) Lorain Road Auto Body (Impact Sign Co), 24532 Lorain Rd.
Pole sign (building proposal heard October 16, 1985 - Joe George)
Main part of pole sign (top) and one tenant insert sign were submitted.
Insert presented at meeting is different from original elevation: it
is bigger than proposed tenant signs, shape is not compatible with up-
per portion of sign; colors are not compatible. Original elevation
shows 3 tenant signs. 5' long, 12"'high and with radius ends. Board
questioned how many tenants will be in b uilding, this larger size
could keep other tenants from having sign. Insert must be submitted
at the next meeting, but Board agreed ta review main portion of sign .
at this time. Mre Pattison stated that sign is garish, too many
colors, and letters are outlined in different colors. Contractor
stated that pole is to be dark bronze. J. Britton moved to approve the
sign with the recommendations that the yellow be taken out and made
the same color as the background and that the side post be 7plack and
that any furture signage or tenant signs that would be mounted on
that particular sign be of the same shape as the Auto Body and Frame
