He wants the fence to line <br />up with an existing fence and needs it to shield family room from headlights. <br />Board agreed that a 16' length of a 6' privacy screen would solve the problem. <br />E. Graves moved to grant the variance, seconded by C. Remmel. Roll call on <br />motion: Graves, Remmel, Bugala, and Gomersall, Nay. Motion failed to pass. <br />Variance denied. <br />8. J. Kiefer, 3865 Canterbury Rd. <br />Request for variance (1133.13). Request 446 sq. ft. variance for garage <br />area to build detached garage. Violation of Ord. 62-33, Section 1151.04-C. <br />Chairman Remmel called all interested parties before the Board. The oath-was <br />administered to Mr. Kiefer who explained he needed garage for his 2 cars and <br />a motor home. Present garage will only accommodate one car. His lot has 3 <br />acres and the existing barn will eventually be torn down. Board is concerned <br />that this could be turned into a commercial garage later on and what they are <br />requesting is actually a 4 car garage. They suggested that he return with a <br />reduced request w3th standard size garage doors. Mr. Whitehouse would like <br />to put motor home in garage. Board suggested a car port. R. Bugala moved <br />that the request for J. Kiefer, 3865 Canterbury Rd. be withdrawn, seconded by <br />E. Graves, and unanimously approved. Request with drawn. <br />9. Milton's North Coast Bistro, 26324 Lorain Rd. <br />Request for variance (1133,13). Request variance to use residential property <br />for parking lot. Violation of Ord. 62-33, Section 1151.01. <br />Chairman Remmel called all interested parties before the Board. The oath was <br />administered to Gus Georgalis, George Georgalis, the owners, T. Kondzer, <br />their attorney, and Mrs. Sappone, D. Lusardo, Mrs. Herly, Mrs. Woods, J. Juhas, <br />Mrs. Deemer, Mrs. Thomasma, and Mr. Hoyt. Mr. Kondzer explained that Mr. <br />Georgalis is requesting a variance to park cars on a vacant lot with a drive- <br />way onto Silverdale Road with a mounded landscape buffer adjacent to the resi- <br />dential area. Vacant lot is not wide enough:. to develop residentially. Neigh- <br />bors are opposed to another parking lot adjacent to their homes and stated <br />that a landscape buffer will not stop trash from blowing onto their property, <br />they need a barrier; property values have been decreased because they are <br />surrounded by parking lots; they do not want a dumpster closer to their homes. <br />Variance is for parking and dimmpster could not be placed on that property. <br />Mr. Georgalis will eliminate driveway onto Silverdale and install mounded <br />landscaping in that area. He presented a petition with signatures of his <br />customers who want more parking. Two customers spoke in favor of variance; <br />citing problems with parking, traffic exiting and entering, and stating that <br />Milton's was a familq restaurant and does not generate the trash that the <br />fast food restaurants do. Mr. Remmel stated that the Board is aware of the <br />need, hawever, to do this would require a rezoning, not a variance, and <br />should be heard by Planning Commission. Mr. Kondzer disagreed and stated <br />that such a variance could be granted. fle was advised to contact the Law <br />Director regarding any legal questions. C. Remmel moved to refer this to the <br />Planning Commission for their review and action, if it requires a variance <br />after they get through with it, it will come back here, they (the Planning
