RECOMMENDATIONS ON HISTORIC DISTRICT SIGNS
1) There should be at least 2 signs.
2) The size of the sign should be 3 feet by 2-2-1/2 feet.
3) LC should try to obtain 2 signs for $900,00.
4) LC will get in touch with Mr. Aftora and see if he can
meet our requirements.
5) LC should go to City Council and request additional funds
for a 3rd sign and for customized street signs.
6) LC should investigate other possibilities for manufacturing
of the Historic District signs.
OLD BUSINESS
Historic District Ordinance - City Council read the ordinance
for the 3rd time and passed the Historic District ordinance.
Old Town Hall - Lois Van Auken inquired about the Town Hall
Restoration. Sharon replied that there was money available
to make the repairs and that new lighting has been "O.K"ed.
Bob also recommended that since there was no longer grant funds
available for Town Hall, that perhaps a Building Maintenance
fund should be started in order to provide for general repairs
on Town Hall in the future.
Flagner House - Betty inquired about the status of the Flagner
house. Sharon reported that the City was going to give the
N.O.L.C. a 30 day notice before the house would be destroyed.
The Building Commissioner and the Mayor have issued an ultima-
tum to the homeowners. The ultimatum consisted of "Either
repair the house up to Code" (Electrical and Plumbing) or the
City would condemn the property.
Apparently, the City has done all the "paperwork" and they could
demolish the house within 30 days. If the. house is to be des-
troyed City Hall will give the L.C. 30 days notice. In that
time the L.C. could spread the word about the Flagner house
in order to attract a buyer who would be interested in restor-
ing the house. Suggestions are:
1) A Photo/Fact sheet, similar to what Real Estate
Agents use should be distributed to the community and
to Real Estate Agents; and
2) Publicity from local newspapers to interest a buyer.
-3-
