3) Polaris Education Center - Mike Patton will investigate the possibility of Polaris making the signs in their wood shop. As a project for the students. It may be wise to contact Karen Hanrakan, the Supt. of North Olmsted Schools. 4) N.O. High School Woodwork Teacher - Mike Patton will investigate the possibility of N.O. High School wood shop teacher and class making the signs as a project. It was decided that the Historic District signs will not be installed until sometime in the Spring of 1987. A suggestion was made to try to tie the installation with Historic presentation Month - May. 2) Plaques The LC has 6 historic building plaques in its inventory. It is the objective of the L.C. to begin work on plaquing at least 26 homes in the City of North Olmsted during the course of the year. The houses to be plaqued wil.l be selected from: 1) The homes that Eric Johanson felt were significant structures and 2) The result of the studies made possible by the Grant in 1984. The Commission decided to concentrate on significant homes outside the Butternut historic district. The L.C. discussed the purchase of more plaques. Bob Perry made the following motion: "Move that the N.O.L.C. purchase 20 Historic Building Plaques, OR as many. plaques that can be purchased for $850.00." Betty Lord seconded the Motion. The Motion passed unanimously. The L.C. discussed nominating homes to be plaqued. The standard nominating procedure will be followed. Some other factors that will be taken into consideration would be: 1) whether the home is in good condition, 2) whether the architecture is of particular significance, 3) that the houses selected represented many areas (or streets) throughout North Olmsted and 4) that the future of the structure is secure [(eg) especially if it is in a Commercial zone]. -2-
