<br />d <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ARCHITECTURAL.BOARD OF REVIEW <br />MINUTES - MARCH 20, 1985 <br />I. ROLL CALL: <br />Chairwoman Case called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. <br />Present: M. Case, J. Cavaluchi, S. Ebin, and R. Mongello <br />Also Present: Recording Secretary B. Oring. <br />II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES: <br />S. Ebin moved to approve the minutes of February 20, 1985 as submitted, <br />seconded by M. Case. Roll call on motion: Ebin and Case, Aye. Cavaluchi <br />and Mongello abstained. <br />III. SIGNS: <br />No itams <br />IV. OLD BUSINESS: <br />No items <br />V. NEW BUSINESS: <br />a) Great Northern Retail Shopping Plaza (Keeva J. Kekst), located between <br />Pick and Pay and Ameritrust Drive-thru office. <br />Revised proposal to construt retail stores. <br />Mr. D. Patterson, Architect, and R. Carlisle, representing Great Northern, <br />explained proposal: building is designed in modules, doors will be in- <br />cluded in panels as required by tenant; dryvit on exterior will be warm <br />pastels (mainly a salmon color possibly with green accent color); coping <br />will be an earth tone red; windows will be trimmed with green aluminium; <br />dryvit panels simulate window treatment on north and east elevation (rear); <br />mechanical equipment wi11 be concealed behind a 3 to 5 foot parapet. Board <br />agrees that character of this building differs from all other structures <br />on property and that there is no unity of design. Mr. Carlisle explained <br />that over a period of 5 to 15 years the existing buildings will be altered <br />to be compatible with this design and mansard treatment will be elminated. <br />At present they are discussing new signage with Great Northern Theatre <br />developers and are hoping to incorporate this signage into this type of <br />design. Board noted that Pick and Pay was built less than two years ago <br />and is not compatible with this building. Mr. Ebin stated that the squares <br />in the parking area would be confusing. Mr. Patterson stated that paving <br />pattern was part of'the total.design and that colors of the lines could <br />eliminate any confusion. Board also objects to concrete planters for trees, <br />since those presently on site are cracked. Landscape architect, J. Graham, <br />will be upgrading the landscaping for the entire area and will address
