r
,.
s
ARCHITECTURAL BOARD OF REVIEW MARCH 20, 1985 PAGE 2
this problem. A lighting 'system has•been designed for tliis building and
will be carried out through out the shopping center. S. Ebin moved to
approve the plans as submitted with the exception that the middle stripe
in the parking spaces be eliminated, since it will be confusing to parkers.
Motion died for lack of second. Board again discussed their concerns and
would like to to restudy proposal and would like architect to submit a
color rendering. It was agreed that a special meeting would be held on
April: 3, 1985 at 4:00 p.m.
b) Great Northern Theatre (J. F. Martino), 26315 Great Northern Shopping Center.
Proposal to construct an addition to the rear of theater.
Mr. J. Martino, Architect, presented the plans to add to the rear of the
theater. Building will be brick to match the existing. Air conditioning
units will be screened with duronotic brown to match doors. Board would
like some kind of treatment to break up brick wall (brick design is on
wall now but will be covered). Architect had not planned that since none
of the other rearwalls have any design. Mr. Mongello suggested that plant-
ing trees would break up blank wall. Honey locust was suggested. Dumpster
will be in corner but will not be enclosed. R. Mongello moved to approve
the plans subject to the planting of eight trees on the rear (south elevation)
and require a brick enclosure around the dumpster, seconded by J. Cavaluchi,
and unanimously approved.
Proposal to construct an addition.
c) North Olmsted United Methodist Church (Geary, Moore and Ahrens),
4600 Dover Center Rd.
Mr. Geary, Architect, and Pastor Bruce Morrison and J. Solt, representing
the church, presented model of existing church and addition. Materials
will match the existing, weathered shake siding and black shingles. Ad-
dition wil.l wrap around three sides. All mechanical units are inside.
Landscaping will remain the same, some new dogwood trees will be added. S.
Ebin moved to approve the plans as submitted, seconded by M. Case, and
unanimously approved.
d) Mr. Carburetor (Richard Mongello), 24002 Lorain Rd.
Proposal to construct an addition.
Mr. Cushenan presented parking plan requested by the Building Department
and.Planning Commission: 23 spaces are required, 30 are shown. Building
will be sided with 8" white vinyl siding; roof wi11 be shingled in black;
trim around windows and doors will be black; overhead doors will be white,
and possibly have some small windows (not shown); gutters and downspouts
will be white. Mr. Cushenan requested that he be allowed to just paint
the east wall of the existing building (block and wood) since it would
not be visible because of adjacent storage buildings. Mr. Cushenan pre-
sented preliminary plan for new sign. Board would like to encourage a
new sign along the lines of thispreliminary plan. S. Ebin moved to approve
the plans as submitted, seconded.by M. Case.. Roll call on motion: Ebin,
Case, and Cavaluchi, aye. Mr. Mongello abstained.
The meeting was adjourned at 5:30 p.m.
M. Case, Chairwoman B. Oring, Recording Secretary
