t, <br />ARCHITECTURAL BOARD OF REVIEW SEPTEMBER 18, 1985 PAGE 2 <br />b) Jamestown Village Apartments (Ruzsa-Zarzycki, Architects), located at <br />approximately 4775 Columbia Rd. <br />Proposal to construct Phase VI, consisting of four (4) buildings, <br />containing a total of thirty-six units. <br />Mr. Margolius, the owner, presented pictures.of the existing buildings, <br />new structures will match the existing. Buildings..will'be.brick, either <br />ted or a white balced..on.finish in a utility size, garages are split face <br />block. Shutters, doors, and w.indaw trim will be black, patio door will be <br />trimmed in white. All outside mechanicals, gas meters, etc_,are screened <br />with landscaping. As many trees as possible wi11 remain and shrubs will <br />be installed around patio areas. Liglits will be installed on garages <br />and pole lights (approximately 8' high) will be a colonialstyle. S. Ebin <br />moved to approve the plans as submitted, seconded by M. Case, and unani- <br />mously approved. <br />c) Adon Equipment Co. (W.R. Davison, Architects), 23904 Lorain Rd. <br />Proposal to construct building (existing building to be demolished). <br />Mr. Hall, the architect, and D. and A. Schmidt, the owners, stated <br />that two building on the property will be demolished and another building <br />will be demolished in the spring (they will be using this for storage <br />during the construction). Building will be a pre-engineered metal build- <br />ing with beige or gray split face block wainscoting with dark bronze <br />mansard above and dark bronze trim on windows. Solid wall will be on <br />the west property line. Landscaping islands will be on either side of <br />the driveway and some additional landscaping will be installed in front <br />of the building and on the west property line. Sign will be in landscape <br />island. C.E.I. pole light will remain and additional lights will be <br />mounted on the building. Electrical service will be brought in overhead <br />from a pole on the property. Mr. Ebin would like electrical service <br />brought in underground from the pole for the present, and later, when <br />second building is built, it could be completely underground; wires for <br />sign wi11 be underground. No roof top equipment is planned on the roof <br />except for exhaust fans which would be hidden by the mansard. Air condi- <br />tioning unit wi11 be through the wall in the office area. S. Ebin moved <br />to accept the plans, providing that the electrical service to the existing <br />sign and at least the electrical service from the existing pole to the <br />new building and telephone service be underground, seconded by M. Case, <br />and unanimously approved. <br />d) Marathon Petroleum Co., Lorain and Butternut Ridge Rd. <br />Proposal to construct canopy and make exterior alterations to existing <br />building. (Variance for canopy granted September 4, 1985). <br />Mr. J. Beardsley, representing Marathon, present plans for new canopy and <br />building alterations. Canopy will be 36' by 48' in white with red and <br />blue trim and black letters. Canopy will be lighted from underneath. <br />Building will have a tuxedo gray alumiriium mansard, and white metal trim <br />will be replaced with redish brown brick columns. Three sides of building <br />will be remodeled and rear wall will remain as is. Florescent tubes will <br />be installed around the soffit. Property is landscaped at present. A11
