Re-
flective glass will be used on roof portion of addition, vertical
glass will be tinted, a glass door will be installed on the west
side; trim will be bronze metal and wainscoting will be rough sawn
textured plywood stained brown to match the overhang which will
be refurbished. Faces will be changed on the existing pole sign. Mr.
Ebin pointed out that this pole was at one time illuminated and this
was no longer allowed by ordinance. They do not plan to light the
pole. They have no plans as yet for building signs. The Board would
like to see the sign proposal when available. S. Ebin moved to approve
the plans as submitted providing Mr. Gundy has an opportunity to review
them before it goes to Planning Commission and with the provision that
the new building and pole sign designs be submitted to this Board,
seconded by M. Case, and unanimously approved.
2) Westin Centre (Philip Sager), 30276 Lorain Rd.
Proposal to construct automobile repair facility - phase 1
(Heard by Planning Cotnmissa.on December 10, 1985)
Mr. Sagar, representing the owner, explained that the house will
remain on the property for the time being, trees and front will
remain as is until later phases, This phase calls for an auto repair
garage and a znetal storage building. The garage will be attached
to an existing structure and the addition will be scored stri-face
siding in a natural color with a stone creek brick veneer in a grayish
dark tan on the west and south elevation, Mr. Evin advised Mr. Sager
that the stri-face siding, since it is a scored concrete block, might
not be an approved material, He personally would pre-fer that the
tiri.ck be used on the entire building, perhaps in two colors to achieve
the same effect. G1ass block windows are on the sides of the building
and above the doors. Mr. Ebin does not like the glass block above the
doars, but Mrs, Case believes that this is part of the design and has
no protilem with it; Steel doozs and downspouts will be painted to
matcli.tYie adjacent walls, with dark bronze trim on windows and doors.
Metal fac3a-w-?11. match the lighter wa11s. No roof top mechanicals
are planned, Heaters will be exhausted out the rear wall and will
be painted to match the wall. Roof will be an elastic membrane mater=
ia1 on the addition and the existing office area will have an asphalt
shingle xoof in a dark gray. Letters on building with name and ad-
dress wi1l be lilack and possibly will be spotlighted. Storage building
will be a pre, engineered znetal liuilding in a Kodiak brown which will
znatch. the garage, trizn will probably be painted to match the building.
,An office area will be added to the front at a later time.. Landscaping
i;s pla, nned around the buildings but would not be visible from the street,
I,ora?n Road £rontage will remain as is with trees and grass. Two pole
7.ights on rear o,f property will have underground wiring and building
li,ghts-a.re nlanned. An 8' dark green chain line fence is planned for
rear and side property lines with planting along the fence. Dumpster
is on the rear of the property. S. Ebin moved to approve the plans as
suT7mitted wi,th the recommendation that the glass block panels above the
doors on the auto repair building be eliminated and that the auto re-
pa.ir building be constructed of a11 brick rather than the patterned
concrete block, but the same design concept could; be carried through
