Bugala, E. Graves, L. Horvath, T. Restifo, and C.
Remmel
Also Present: Law Director M. Gareau, Building Commissioner E.
Gundy, and Recording Secretary B. Oring.
L. Horvath moved to approve the Minutes of January 5, 1983 as
presented, seconded by E. Graves, and unanimously approved.
Building Commissioner Gundy advised the Board that in the case of
. Walter Russell, 24825 Randall Dr. (continued from October 6, 1982?,
he has had no response from the builder. The Board requests that
Mr. Russell and the contractor be present at the next meeting.
Regarding F. Morales, 6231 Barton Road, the installation of the sub-
base of the driveway which was a condition of the variance has not
been started. Mr. Gundy stated that it was the wrong time of the
year to instail a driveway, and he will try to get a committment
as to when the driveway will be installed.
1. Unfinished Furniture Shoppe (David J. Buchholz), 28951 Lorain Rd.
Request for variance (1133.13). Request 27 sq. ft. variance to
add to existing oversized pole sign. Violation of Ord..62-33,
Section 1221.06 (F)4. Also request variance for total signage al-
lowed. Violation of Ord. 62-33, Section 1221.06D. There is also
more than one pole sign on property.
Chairman Remmel called all interested parties before the Board.
The oath was administered to Mr. Buchholz who stated that because
of the position of his unit, his wall sign cannot be seen. The
Board agrees that there is a problem, however, because of several
pole signs in the area, they do not feel this addition would be
very effective. It was suggested that a wall sign could be placed
on the side of the building which runs parallel to Lorain Rd. Mr.
Buchholz was agreeable, if the owner of the center is agreeable..
C. Remmel moved to grant the variance based on 1.5 lineal feet for
every foot of frontage of the store unit, for a wall sign to be
placed on the Lorain Road side of the building, seconded by E.
Graves, and unanimously approved. Variance granted.
Law Director Gareau suggested that when requests for sign variances
are heard for leased buildings, the owner of the building should
be notified to appear and subpoenaed if necessary.
2. Ground Round Restaurant (Wayne E. Vert), 24250 Lorain Rd.
Request for variance (1133.13). Request approximately 25' front
