.
'• ARCHITECTURAL BOARD OF REVIEW AUGUST 17, 1983
PAGE 2
questioned the width of the 40 foot drive between the off ice tower
and parking structure since this would seem to be a tunnel-like
access. Mr. Ebin suggested some type of recessed treatment of the
buildings which would alleviate this problem. Board also believed
that the two large parking structures facing Brookpark Rd. would
have no curb appeal from Brookpark. These could be rearranged
later. Mr. Mongello questioned if parking and stacking area for cars
exiting parking structures would be adequate, and what traffic controls
would be instituted. Parking exceeds code and traffic study has been
made; no signalization has been planned for phase one; and traffic
situation will be restudied with each phase of the complex and
signalization planned at that time. Board suggested that an over-
head passageway from parking structure to hotel and overhead trans-
portation to the Mall should be included in plans. S. Ebin moved to
approve the detailed development plans for the Great Northern Cor-
porate Center with the disapproval of the long narrow 40' wide drive
between the parking structure and the office tower which should be
restudied and re-presented and that exiting traffic stacking area
be restudied for adequacy and re-presented to the Architectural
Board, seconded by R. Mongello. Roll call on motion: Ebin, Mongello,
and Case, aye. Cavaluchi, riay. Mr. Cavaluchi explained that his no
vote was because the project is so complex in its enormity that there
are certain things that he would prefer to study prior to his ap-
provalo He would like more time to study proposal. Mr. Richland stated
that the plans would be returned for study at each phase of the con-
struction.
Mr. Mongello questioned Mr. Richland as to why screening had not
been installed on the Pick and Pay building. Mr. Richland stated
that screening would be installed next week.
VI. ADJOURNMENT:
The meeting was adjourned at 5:30 p.m.
M. Case, Chairwoman B. Oring, Recording Secretary
