Violation of Ord. 62-33,
Section 1131.06. (Variance granted for Chuck E. Cheese pole sign on
12/2/81 -.this will be an addition to that sign.)
Chairman Remmel called all interested parties before'the Board. The
oath was administered to G. Avery, Attorney, and G. Roth of Chuck E.
Cheese. Mr. Avery explained that there was a hardship since Chuck E.
Cheese had leased both stores with-the expectation of expanding their
own operation. Now however, due to the economy, they must lease the
additional space. There is no signage remaining for that store unit.
Ae pointed out that the empty unit is not-producing tax dollars. He
also displayed pictures to illustrate that other signage in the area
overpowered.the Chuck E. Cheese sign and the building is obscured by
adjacent buildings. The Board had granted the Chuck E. Cheese Pole
sign a variance when it was installed on the pole with the Cunningham
sign (now Gray Drugs). Forest City.will not lease the building without
the pole.sign. The Board suggested that Chuck E. Cheese and Grays try
to work out an agreement on a combined conforming sign. Mr. Gundy
advised that they could put up a 40 sq. ft. ground sign, with a var-
iance for total sign area. Mr. Avery requested to withdraw his re-
quest for the variance for the pole sign and agreed to amend his re-
quest for the facia sign for a 75 sq. ft. variance. C. Remmel moved to grant a 75 sq. ft. variance for a facia sign only, seconded
by T. Restifo. Roll call on motion: Remmel, Restifo, and Horvath,
Ayee. Graves, Nay. Motion_passed.
