.oo . ,. <br />CITY UF NUKTH OLMSTEU <br />BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS <br />MINUTES - APRIL 7, 1982 <br />Chairman Remmel called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br />Present: R.-Bugala, E. Graves, L. Horvath, W. Wasniak, and <br />C. Remme 1. <br />Also Present: Law Director M. Gareau, Building Commissioner <br />E. Gundy, Councilpeople R. Wilamosky, Y. Petrigac, <br />and R. Bierman, and Recording Secretary B. Oring <br />Chairman Remmel corrected the Minutes of March 3, 1982: Page 2, <br />Item 3, fourth line from the bottom should read "....parking area <br />should be paved:' L. Horvath moved to approve the minutes of- <br />March 3, 1982 as corrected,•seconded by W. Wasniak, and unanimously <br />approved. . <br />Chairman Remmel then announced that case #4 will be heard last <br />and case #7 will be heard in its place. <br />? 1. Crestmont Toyota, Porsche, Audi, 26890 Lorain Rd. <br />Request for variance (1133.13) (on drawing #1) Request 118 sq. ft. <br />variance for pole sign, 272 sq. ft. variance for total sign area <br />allowed and second pole sign on one lot.. Violation of Ord. 62-33, <br />Section 1225.02 and 1221.06B4. Also (on drawing #5) request 272 <br />sq. ft. (if above is granted) plus 96 sq. ft. variance for total <br />sign area allowed, and also, variance for more than one pole sign <br />on lot. Violation of Ord. 62-33, Section 1225.02 and 1221.06B4. <br />Chairman Remmel called all interested parties before the Board. <br />The oath was administered. Representatives from Crestmont and <br />fron Bob Cutler Signs were present. Building Commissioner E. <br />Gundy clarified the request. Signs 2, 3, 4, 6, and 7 had been <br />approved under the Ordinance. Signs #1 and 5 need variances. <br />Total sign area allowed under the Ordinance is 468 sq. ft.; the <br />permitted signs have used up 256 sq. ft., and there is 212 sq. ft. <br />remaining. One pole sign (#2) has been approved. The total <br />request is for 330 sq. ft. over the permitted signage and a total <br />of 3 pole signs on one lot is being requested also. The Board is <br />in agreement that these requests were excessive. It.was explained <br />that there will be three dealerships at this location and the <br />factory will not allow the Toyota sign on the same pole with the <br />Porch/Audi sign. A ground sign would be legal, however, the Board <br />agreed that the appearance would not be desirable. At this point <br />Councilman Wilomosky was sworn in. It was clarif ied that one pole <br />sign had been approved under the Ordinance. M. Gareau stated that <br />even though there are 3 separate lots involved, there is only one <br />use and the buildings are built over the lot lines, so this pro- <br />perty must be considered 'one lot (only one pole sign is allowed
