c f „.?. ? t ? 4 CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED BOARD OF BUILDING CODE APPEALS MINUTES - FEBRUARY 26, 1981 Chairman Schulz called the meeting to order at 7:45 p.m. Present: B. Shulz, J. Patton, and R. Tallon Also Present: Building Commissioner E. Gundy, Building Inspector B. MacKenzie, and Recording Secretary B. Oring. R. Tallon read the Minutes of November 20, 1981. The Minutes were approved as submitted. Continuation of discussion of window condensation problems in the homes of Robert Beck, Richard Stock, and David Votaw on Walter Road. Chairman Shulz advised that a site inspection had been made at the Stock residence. Although there was no condensation at the time, it was noted that the weather stripping on the bedroom window was deteriorating and was short an inch and three quarters on each side. Another window in the rear bedroom did not meet at the check rail. It was noted that a window which had been re- paired was tight and that the window in the bedroom which had not been repaired was loose. Building Commissioner Gundy who had conducted humidity tests, advised that there was no unusual amoun6, of humidity in any of the three houses. There was de- finitely evidence of condensation in Mr. Stocks house. Chairman Schulz stated that there is no building code violation, but there is evidence that the windows were not installed properly, and that the builder has a responsibility to correct the shim- ming problem and the lack of weather stripping. There will probably always be condensation because of the thinness of the windows. A letter should be sent to the builder advising him of this. Iu referenee to the _window 'well .problem, Mr. Stock does ii.ot feel the pipe was installed properly. Inspector MacKenzie stated that the pipe went down to the slag and was installed according to code. The problems with the swale should be referred to the Engineering Department. Mr. Stock was administered the oath. He stated that the level of
