r
r'
PLAN24ING CONNISSION . APRIL 10, 19 79 PAGE 3
owner and developer, explained that after approval of both
North Olmsted Planning Commission and Westlake Planning Com-
mission, Westlake City Council wanted Regional Planning
Commission to study the plan and that North Olmsted City Council
wanted their Engineering Department to look into the intersection
of Gessner Road Extension and the relocated Route 252. Region al
Plan Report did not like the layout of the original intersection
and suggested that the plans be referred to the Ohio Department
of Transportation. The revised plans include the suggestions of
the Regional Planning Report and the Ohio Department of Transpor-
tation. The revised plans were explained to the adjacent pro-
perty owners. One neighbor _questioned why only one sidewalk was
planned for the street. The others were concerned about the
traffic which at present is congested and will undoubtedly be
worse after 1480 opens, and they feel that this extension will
add considerably to their problem. The property owners still
feel that relocated 252 would solve most of these problems,
however according to Mr. Gertsma; it was estimated by the state
that it would not be tmder construction for at least 7 to 9
years. Mr. Gertsma agreed to put the sidewalk on both sides of
the street. Ch airman R. Bugala moved that the Planning Commission
accept the changes to the proposed subdivision of Gertsma with
the addition of a sidewalk on the south side of the extension,
subject to the approval of the North Olmsted Engineering Department,
seconded by W. Ohman, and Lmanimously approved.
Mr. Gorris was excused at 9: 45 p. m.
V. COMMUNICATIONS:
Invitation to Regional Planning Commission Conference on May 16, 17,
and 18.
VI. NEW BUSINESS
No Items
VII. OLD BUSINESS
No Items
VII. COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Bikeway's Committee is still trying to contact Mr. Petre and Qouncil
Committee on Bike Paths.
Mr. Bugala chose to defer items for sign ordinance until the next
meeting when Mr. Ryan will be present.
