CITY OF NORTH OLNISTED - BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS <br />REGULAR MEETING HELD AT 'I'H.E CITY HALL - DECEMBER 8, 1964 <br />Meeting called to order at 7:45 p.mv <br />Members present: Messrs. Byers9 Greene, Schaa£, Mrs. Eian <br />Member absent: Mr. Klinite <br />Also present: Mr. Gundy, Building Commissioner <br />Others as listed under appellants and complainant <br />MM9..nutes of the Novemberc 13 Meeting were accepted as submitted. <br />1. Appellant: Mr. Alfred Fienauri, Jro, operator of the Columbia Road <br />Barber Shop, 4531 Columbia Road, North Olmsted. <br />Ref : Request for vari.ance to erect a business sign 81 x 31 in f ront of <br />the shop, wnich is in violation o£ Section 1225.01 (A) of the Zoning <br />Ordinance, which limits signs in residential areas to one square <br />f oot in sizeo <br />Mr. Fienauri said he thought an a.lluminated•ssgn would help his businesse <br />The sign would be on the buglding on the overhang, Mr. Joseph Borosh, <br />4522 Columbia Road, said he objected to a previous sign because of the <br />light glare and also the type of sign, and would object to the proposed <br />_ sign gf it were simil ar. Mro Paul Farkas, 4506 Columbia Road, also <br />objected, and said there was unsatisf actory parking space for more busi- <br />ness, and that such a deficiency would be a sa£ety hazard. Mrs. Pearl <br />Evanoff, 4550 Columbia Road9 had no objectionse Mrs. Bloomingdale, 4577 <br />Columbia Road, anevu resident in the area, had no objections. <br />Mr. Schaaf indicated the bui]Lding was a non-conforming use, and moved to <br />deny the variance request. Mr. Greene seconded. Messrs. Byers, Greene and <br />Schaaf voted to deny. Mrs. Eian voted against the motion. <br />2. Appellant: Mr. Jaanes Hill, 24114 Fairlawn Drive, North 0lmsted. <br />Ref; Request to build an attached garage onto his house which would <br />reduce side yard widths to nine feet, thereby violating Section <br />1161.01 of the Zoning Ordinance, tivhich stipulates side yard widths <br />for houses with attaclled garages as f if teen feet. <br />A Mro Tremblee represented NIr. Hill. No one appeared to raise objections. <br />The discussion revealed a fenced-in ditch was immediately east of the <br />Hill property, rather than another house. <br />Mr. Schaaf moved to grant the v ariancee Mxs. Bian seconded. Motion was <br />voted unanimously. <br />3. Complainant; Mr. James Cooney, 4692 Bailey Road, North Olmsted. <br />Ref: Request for interpretation of Zoning Ordinance of North Olmsted, <br />Sections 1174.04, 1174.05, 1214.01 and 1214.02 regarding the opera- <br />tion of the Whiz xuto tiVash, 25715 Lorain Road, North Olmsted. <br />Mr. and Mrs. Cooney were present; also R4r. Alex Kanareff, co-owner of <br />the Auto Wash.
