Request to erect signs in excess of <br />permitted square footage and too high. Request is in <br />violation of Ordinance #62-33, Section 1225.02. <br />Present and repr:esenting Sheffler Chevrolet was Mr. Fred Zimmer, Gen.Mgr. <br />and Mr. Maheu from Brilliant Electric Sign Co. <br />Mr. Zimmer asked that the Board permit him to recall the request for Used Car <br />Sign as proposed at the last meeting. He is doing this at the request of <br />Mr. Ackerer the adjacerit neighbor to the West of Sheffler Chevrolet. The <br />Board now wi11 only consider the one sign on the East side of the property. <br />As requested by the Board, the minutes of Oct. 5,1966 referring to Great <br />Northern Ford, 16890 Lorain Rd., were read, this is now Sheffler Chevrolet. <br />The new proposal made by Sheffler Chevrolet was a Pole sign 36' high and <br />137 sq. ft. This request was made because of hardship created by the <br />Manner's sign. The Board admitted that Manner's had a non--conforming _ <br />oversize and over height sign. Chairman Roberts asked if,:.any further <br />reductions in height.and area could be made. At this time Mr. Zimmer <br />presented a proposal to erect a Pole sign 28' total height, 80 sq. ft. <br />in area. Because of the construction of this sign they are unable to <br />reduce the height to 25 ft. Motion was made by Mr. Greene that the sketch <br />#10434 Sheet #1 of 5 as notated approved by Board Chairman Roberts, indicat- <br />ing a Chevrolet sign of 80 sq. ft. and 'Lti' high be approved. Seconded by <br />Lancashire. Yes votes were cast by Roberts, Greene and Lancashire. Davis <br />voted no. Motion passedm <br />4. Appellant: Continuation of request for variance by Hi-Fy Service <br />Station, 27447 Lorain Rd., North Olmsted to erect a sign in <br />excess of permitted square footage. Request is in violation <br />of Ordinance #62-33, Section 1225.02. <br />Present and representing Hi-Fy Gas Stations was John Kohar of Hanover Mfg. <br />Co. <br />Mr. Kohar explained that at the last meeting of the Board, July 9,1969, <br />request was made for a lL' x`LO' sign, total area of 240 sq. ft. to replace <br />the damaged and over 300 sq. ft. sign now in existance at Hi-Fy Gas Station. <br />At this meeting Mr..Kohar.submitted a smaller size sign request, 8' x 12'- <br />96 sq. ft. single pole sign. Sign is constructed of extruded aluminum and <br />plexiglas faces. He explained because of the construction he is unable to <br />reduce the size of the sign any moreo Motion was made by Mr. Greene to deny <br />the variance for this.signe Seconded by Mr. Lancashire, unanimously approved. <br />5. Appellant: Request for variance by Sun Oil Co. to erect a Service Station <br />on the S.W.corner of Lorain and Dover Ctr. Rds.,No.Olmsted <br />within 500' of City Ha11. Request is in violation of Ordinance <br />#6'L-33, Section 1173.02 (H) which states that a gasoline <br />service station cannot be located withixi 500' of any lot <br />occupied by an existing public building.
