CITY OF NORTH OLT4STED, OHID <br />PL1'AIDTING CONLAISSION <br />Februar-j 9, 1971 <br />I. R.oll CaTl <br />The meeting was called to order at 8v05 P.r14. by Chairman Donald Led.vina. <br />Those nresent were Mssrs, Ledvina, Ed.ward Byers, Kurt Richards9 Janes Davis, Nefson <br />Jaries Leonard. Absento I,ir. Brewer. Mre Richards moved to excuse the <br />a.bsence of Nir. Brewery seconded by Mr. Davis and unanimousl,y passed. Also <br />nresent: Mr. Fa.nsbury, Assistant to Acting City Engineer; Sally Henkle, <br />Secretary. <br />II. Reading and Correction of Minutes <br />Mr. Davis moved to dispense tiritn the read.ing of the minutes of the 1/I2/71 <br />meeting and to approve as written; seconded by Nr. Leonard and unanimously <br />rassed. <br />III. Building Department Requests - P?one <br />IV. Old Business <br />(a) ilen Roc Investment Co. Rezoning - Mir. Ledvina sta.ted that ?Mr. Moss <br />had called and requested a two-week ex.tension on this proposal. <br />(b) CEI Power Line Location - CEI representatives submitted a print of <br />the revision of route and also showed the Droposed location for sub- <br />station. The sub-station location would have to be rezoned to <br />multiple residence. They haven't contacted the prorert,y owners who <br />would be effected because tney have to have the proposal approved by <br />the City firste Discussion was held on whether or not the Planning <br />Commission had the power to iniate rezoning and Mr. Leonard cited <br />sections of the City Charter which stipula.te the powers of the <br />Planning Commissione Discussion was held regarding changes made <br />since original plan was submitted and it was stated that the location <br />of the proposed sub-station had been changed so as to effect as few <br />property owners as Tossible and to get it furthur away from existing <br />resid.ences. CEI went over reasons why the line was necessary. He <br />cited increased ponulation as well a.s increaseri use of electricity. <br />He -pointed out the crucial need and furthur stated that there is <br />nresently no generator in RTorth Olmsted at all. Otter surrounding <br />communities sunpl3T part of the Citf's DoWer at the present time. He <br />believes that by approximately Zggo, the demand will exceed the avail- <br />ability and_ cited the respcnsibility of the utilities companies to <br />provide satisfactory* service and to anticipate future needs. Mr. <br />Ledvina stated that Planning C,ommission mem'pers have studied all of <br />the material previously submitted and that they have met w.th members <br />of Council, interested citizens and representa.tives of CEI in this <br />regard, The ?ollowing persons addressed the Planning Commissiono <br />(1) Mr. Geisser, 25118 Carey Lane voiced objections to the line <br />a.nd sub-station and stated that the Planning Commission cannot <br />recomr.mend rezoning when CEI doesn't own the nroperty or hold an <br />option on it, (?) Mrs. Geisser, 25118 Carey Lane, stated that she <br />felt underground lines should be considered furthur. (3) Mr. Crabbs, <br />25575 Butternut Ridge R.oad sta.ted that sub-stations don't belong in <br />resid.ential areas and offered suggestions on other pronosed routes.
